no; they mean putting bumpers and stuff on it to make it US legal.
motorex is such a rip-off.
please, ~$110,000 for a stock skyline?
or > $40k for a 5-7 year old used one?
huge waste of money.

mutch cheaper to just buy one in japan, pay the freight, then make it legal and title it yourself.

Example:
these guys can get you a nice, slightly used GT-R for ~$8-$20k
it only costs ~$1000 USD to freight a car from japan to UK or US/CA
not sure what customs would charge, but the "conversion" isn't going to be $16k
so if you do it yourself, you could feasibly have a skyline on the road for ~$15-25k

I. Importing a Nissan Skyline.

The Nissan Skyline was not originally manufactured to comply with all applicable FMVSS. Such a vehicle that is less than 25 years old can only be lawfully imported into the U.S. if (1) it is determined eligible for importation by NHTSA and (2) it is imported by an RI or by a person who has a contract with an RI to bring the vehicle into compliance with all applicable FMVSS within 120 days of entry.

i'll also take a R33 GTR... or even a GTS-T. dosent really matter.

( I'm not a fan of the Hicas system )

But on an add'd point, if the car is 15 years or older it can be imported here into Canada, But the work around is that they are going to change that Act ( known as the Classic car act ) And make it someware around 20 years... give or take.

thems fighting words >:E

and no its not at all, i got about 5 peeps now that own R32's and its a blast.. ( 2 are GTS-T Type M's, the other three are GTR's :) )

All in all though, i would rather a S series chassis ( i'm kinda bias to the S13's.. i wubs em so ) Rahter then a R series.

they can be such sleepers :)

I suppose it's slightly OT by now, but...

350z: looks nice; but I've heard bad reviews. Also, practicality is nil.

G35: Definitely the best looking of all of them, but the interiors of old G35s were cheap and the performance wasn't great.

Boxter: Ugly. And if you're going to get a Porsche that's not a 911, why not go for the new one... the Cayman or whatever it's called. At least it looks better and (if I'm not mistaken) is faster. This one is definitely the poser of the group.

BMW: A good choice, but if you're going to get an expensive 2-door BMW, why not the M3?

Merc: Dear lord take it away. My eyes have been soiled. That thing is hideous.

My final opinion: I'd hold out for a RSTT. :icon26:

yeah, the cayman S is quite a fine machine.
its basically a proper hard-top boxter... but faster and more rigid.
probably not much of a stretch to bolt on a turbo and have one hell of monster.

actually it looks kinda like what would happen of a 911 and a 550 maranello had an illigitemate love child... not like thats a bad thing though.
oh, list price is $58k ... so its cool for this thread.

oh, and on a related note... i'm buying an elise as soon as i get out of school and have a *real job*
