Also, Brotherhood of War 4/10

Some kind of Korean war thing. Very predictable and poorly done, but there were a few redeeming moments. As usual with asian films, the end was massively slow and suffering from many extreme close ups... i had to stop watching. I wonder why they love that type of stuff so much.

I guess some people didn't understand what Starship Troopers was trying to accomplish. You have to understand that it was a book before it was a movie. A good book at that. If you read the book, you can probably appreciate the movie more. Plus, they're right, it was meant to be a type of sci-fi parody. I think some people had the wrong idea when watching this film.

The book was awesome. It's been so long since I've seen the movie that I only remember bits and pieces of it.

It's a great movie, ST2 is just an insult to its name.

Thats a good read. In fact, I think I read the same essay a couple years ago in one of my film classes (I was a film major). Its interesting to see that sometimes the average movie-goer doesn't see the underlying theme of certain films. But that's not their fault. Actually, its the filmmakers fault. Some filmmakers have to understand that not everyone has taken years of film classes and they don't have the same film mentality as the public.

Live Free or Die Hard - 7/10, good summer movie, was fairly engrossing, had some nice stunt work in it. A good addition to the Die Hard series.

or, people could accept that not every movie is for everyone :icon14:

Crank - 5.5/10

I wasn't expecting much, but it was still a little disappointing.

Although there were a couple of scenes that made the movie worth watching.

Shooter was a 7/10. Some good headshots, as was mentioned. Kind of reminded me of a Bourne Identity/The Fugitive mix. I liked the Bourne series of movies much more though. But this is worth watching.

Shrek 3 - 7/10

It was exactly what I was expecting: more good laughs, an interesting story, and some great animation. Their current formula works so I don't think they were trying to break much new ground with this one.

Prolly one of the best films I've seen. Loved their style, and the small things like the subtitles in the elevator towards the end of the movie. His g/f, wife...whatever she was slowed the movie down in one way, and really helped it out in others imo. The whole china town scene was a bit much...but in the other hand at the end, the phone call kinda made up for it. Kind of a ping pong effect in that sense... 9/10 in my eyes, great movie.

cousin of mine seemed to have love knocked up, but haven't heard much else about it other than that. Been meaning to watch it, maybe I'll catch it in the next few days.

as for dukes, any better than the first. Didn't care much for the first one...didn't even know there was a second.

Shooter - 4/10 Other than the headshots it was complete shit. The book it was based on was about 9,000 times better.

Fantastic 4 - 4/10

I had hopes that it would be better than the first but not even Jessica Alba in spandex could save it.

Only reason it's not a one is cause I didn't bother finishing the movie.
see, I thought it was good until the last 20 minutes or so, the ending was bad

The last king of Scotland 5/10, great plot (well it was based on true historical events) but the time line they tried to cover in this little film did not do the plot justice, very sloppy work imo.

ps
Forest Whitaker did a great job with his part!

SiCKO - 8/10
very good documentary. Unlike previous michael moore films, i actually think he did a good job getting the message accross without filling it full of shit. in short, he kept it relatable and it's depressing as hell. Don't expect to be happy the rest of the day (unless you're not in america, or rich)

Requiem for a Dream - 10/10
watched this again last night after sicko depressed me.
Its still at the top of my favorite film chart; and well deserving of it's spot in the imdb top 100 movies of all time. but then i'm a massochist for movies that tear your soul out. (Dancer in the dark, house of sand and fog, american history x, and the chief of them all: sophie's choice).

Are you talking about Taeguki/The Flag? The one where one brother joins the NKA after he believes his brother died? That movie was really good and so so sad, especially since the girl who dies in the movie actually committed suicide later.
