Sales tax on almost everything you buy in the UK is 17.5%.
On some items its increased (Fuel, Cigs, Beer)
Income tax can vary wildly. I pay about 25% and my wage is low.

The Bridge 9/10
really interesting flick about suicides off the golden gate bridge. I think the film maker had his camera trained on the bridge for about a year. and caught quite a few people jumping. Its a little disturbing to watch actually... people milling about the rail, and youre wondering which one will actually jump.
The rest of the film is mostly talking heads remincing about friends or family who have jumped...of those who have watched people jump.

Things to Come (1936)
8/10
kind of frightening whichever angle you take on it and necessarily oversimplified - but a great prophetic story and a fantastic bit of cinema.

Fantastic Four 2 - 3/10
I'm pretty sure nothing even happened in the movie. The fights were too brief and far between. Two points for The Silver Surfer because he's badass.
edit: and the other point is for something, I don't know what.

Jessica Alba.
No. She was just about the worst part of the movie and she's orange.
They also used the exact same gag as the first one with her. "Oh noes I'm naked and not invisible anymores!!"

Children of Men 8/10
Not fantastic or anything, just well done. But i have a soft spot for these near future / post apocalyptic type of films so i give it a high score!

Crank - Great film, but damn that ending pissed me off. Kinda saw it coming mind, but still, annoying. Fantastic action all the way though, funny too

The black/white guy figth scene made me chuckle.
I bought Children Of Men yesterday because you fuckers will NOT shut up about it. I'll be watching that later me'thinks.

Ghost Rider - 7/10
Great cheesy action/comic movie. Unlike Spiderman 3, very little time was spent on the romance angle.

Death Proof - 7/10
I was actually pleasantly surprised. The special Tarantino dialogue is back after being left out of Kill Bill, and although there's not much of a story, the dialogue and characters (especially Kurt Russell) make up for it and then some. It's quite funny in parts as well as hot and violent, but it's all very well balanced.
The ending was pretty much wtf, but it left the whole theatre laughing and I think that's a good ting.

I had the constant thought of "This feels like the quality of a TV series."
I just don't understand the fanfare on this one. I wouldn't go so far as to say I thought it was crap... But I almost would. I guess I'm shallow.
I saw Sicko the other night, and thought it was great. Really shifted my perspective on exactly what we deal with to get healthcare over here. It never seemed as important to me before, as some other socio-political issues, but I think it's brought it close to the forefront of my mind.
