Dukes of Hazzard -- saw it at the toronto premiere. it's pretty bad. A few times it manages to be funny, and jessica simpson basically does a striptease every scene she's in, but in large part its just boring. The car chases aren't impressive either. 4/10

The Talented Mr Ripley -- kinda weird, kinda gay ... good acting but i didn't like the plot or the direction and we didnt get to see gwyneth paltrows tits. There were only 3 murders and one of them was offscreen. the movie really just lost it after jude law's character died and never got things back together. 5/10

edit: oh yeah, and i thought cate blanchet and gwyneth paltrow were supposed to be twins or something for a while. they shouldn't have chosen actresses that similar looking unless they were meant to be sisters or someshit.

ok, i understand you get to see some of the premieres for free(?), but Dukes of Hazard? i hope you had to do it to write a review or something.

Talented Mr. Ripley..

i just looked through my personal ratings book and i gave it a 7.

yes i see them for free. why would i turn down a free movie? Hell, i saw the Whole Ten Yards premiere, and it was the worst movie i've ever seen in my life. [never saw gigli.] Im studying to be a journalist/film critic, so my best bet is to see every movie i can.

i just wanted to make sure you weren't wasting 2 hours of your life away at each "event" for nothing.

Dukes really wasn't that awful. I took my buddy andrew to the premiere and we just laughed through the movie [often at parts that weren't meant to be funny]. I've seen so very many flicks that were far worse: Soldier, Anacondas, Whole 10 Yards, the avengers, barb wire, day after tomorrow, speed 2, etc. come to mind

the trailer made me think Dukes was fun. im not a Dukes fan at all but this looked like some lighthearted fun

The Island - boring crap, way too long.

Before the last quarter of the movie I was like "Holy shit it still isn't over?"

Gattaca was like 1000 times better.

Edit:

On the plus side: The product placement wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Far from subtle but not overly obnoxious. Bad Boys II was a lot worse.

Haven't seen The Island, but the trailers remind me of Logan's Run.

Stealth

5/10

Action was good, Jessica Biel is so fucking hot, but the general story and everything else sucked.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - 7/10

It was a good movie, nothing exceptional though. Pretty funny, but not hilarious. It made me want to read the books again though.

Kung Fu Hustle 8/10. Nice fight action, story was ok, rather funny in parts. I can't point to anything in particular that really made me like this film, I just did.
