q: how can i ad a matte to an image that i didnt cut out? if i go to save as, gif, it doesnt give me the usual matte options

What I do then is paste into the correct background color then remove the white edges manually with the eraser. Then I select/inverse copy/paste it into a transparent background. You will then have the matte option.
