A Long Legged fly, in flight.

I'm working on this as tubes and macro don't give fast shutter speeds.

Still, it's kind of neat.

A Bug Battle.

Death will follow.

So there I was, sitting again along my fence line waiting........

The sun was bright, the breeze minimal, and I was ready. Well I spotted a little cricket or something like it I had never seen before. (Pics of it latter) and I noticed it was stalking. So I got up and moved my tripod to take a few. I then wondered what it was stalking and low and behold it was the same Assassin Bug I had been taking pics of for the last few days.

Well, the little green cricket moved off, as I was thinking it would. He realized that something else was afoot and lucky to get away with his life.

As he wondered away from the Assassin bug, I got curious and spied a little closer.

Yep, the Assassin bug already had affairs to deal with. He was on the hunt and a little inch worm was in his sites.

After a couple dozen shots of the two combatants the Assassin bug looked at me as if to say "*&%# Off!"

Well, I did not do as his stare directed and he locked back on his opponent. It was at this time the Inch Worm knew he was in serious trouble.

About ten minutes went buy as the pose like pic #1, and the Assassin bug decided it was time for a new approach.... So he moved out from in front of the inch worm and decided to flank him from above on the other side.

This tactic seemed not to work as the Inch Worm Reared Up and slaped the Assassin bug almost knocking him from the leaf.

It was at this time the Inch Worm made a run for the hills. Meanwhile the Assassin bug regained it's footing and began to take chase.

I then watched as the Inch Worm ran out of leaf and had to back track. Right into the spear of the Assassin bug.

The struggle was short as the Inch Worm flopped about. I could almost hear him scream as he went limp from the toxins injected. He went limp and the Assassin bug began to feed on his still living dinner.

I'll pick that up at some point when price drops below $2500. I could be waiting a long while but there's no rush to retire the D2x just yet.

Yeah.. I think they screwed up releasing that now and for that price. All Canon has to is introduce the 5D update at 500-700 less in August or September to change a lot of minds. Nikon should have waited until Photokina to release at that price. I'm sure a lot of people are holding out to see what Canon has in store before blowing that much cash on a body (and possible system switch).

Heck, you should just skip the Nikon and go with the H3DII-31 kit going for $17,995 :smirk:
