bingo! I'm sure you hated the "on screen" keyboard idea all together at first.

Yeah, totally. What I do love is the little mini-vibration that happens when you press one of the soft buttons. Great idea.

Yeah, I'm pretty much sold on this already.

Only thing I've got to do to make it perfect is find a way to make the volume buttons skip a track when you hold them. I'm not fussed about rooting it, so I'll do it if that's what it takes.

It's partially that too. I had an iPhone for 2 years prior to Android, so it's a little bit of an adjustment, not much.

As far as track skipping via long press (or is it short press and long for volume?) of the volume control buttons, I believe Player Pro has that feature when the the headphone out is being used.

See my previous post. I'm so used to the android keyboard that I dislike the iOS keyboard. This is one of the few iPhone gripes I'm sure I could overcome.

JuggerNaut, thanks for the swiftkey and playerpro recommendations, they're both great.

Eraser, I think you're right. I picked the phone up this morning and the keyboard felt much more intuitive and natural than it did yesterday.

Oh, I downloaded a program called Locale, which seems pretty fucking awesome all round.

Yeah, good phone.

Heh phone wars, welp I guess it's nice to justify ya choices... Me? After looking at the iPhone 5 I have to say yeah no dice. The 4s is just such a nice design all round. I really can't see any faults with it.
So here goes my story. I got this phone due to deciding I was gonna make a game on it. (First smart phone for me as I don't really give a fuck about cel phones. Some kinda hangover from the 90s) but once I got it and played a bunch of games on the thing I quickly lost interest. The markets flooded to fuck with crap anyway. Still, it's a good music player and the calculater was handy for eve. Will not get another phone till it breaks or I lose it. My monies on me losing it.

Cool story aye bro's?

iPhone 5 was about the only phone I definitely knew I wasn't going to get. I've never been convinced of Apple's brilliance, and the 5 is just proof to me that they're a sinking ship as far as innovation goes.

Their iMacs, though, are the shit.

funny, i'd just installed that last night. had been using swype but it's completely retarded. so far swiftkey has been quite good - i especially appreciate the multi-language support and the ability to turn off the stupid voice command button that was right in the middle of all the punctuation.

So I never heard of this SwiftKey thing before, I don't mind the stock keyboard that much. Installed it just now and the auto correct in multiple languages is frigging awesome. Might buy after the month is over.

Never understood why the stock keyboard doesn't come with arrow keys btw.

Depends on the phone, my EVO came with arrow keys. Seems that most manufacturers use the default Android keyboard, and that doesnt have'em. And I hate it for it.

Well my Desire used the stock keyboard without the cursor keys. The phone itself had one of those optical eye thingies which you could swipe over to move the cursor. So it wasn't really a problem for me till I got the S3.

This. With the OEM overlays (touchwiz, sense, etc) it really depends on them. Fortunately, we have choices.

The screen on the iPhone 5 is crap, already scratched because I had it in my pocket with a small paper card. WTF my Gorilla Glass toting droids never scratched

a boatload of fine scratches... Scratched by paper seriously!

You sure it was from paper? That's a little unbelievable...

Maybe a few grains of sand were wedged between the paper and the screen? Still, that shouldn't happen either, but sounds more plausible.

nnaa the iphone5 is selling well because of i like what i call "i like harry potter " syndrome

years ago i had a little niece that couldnt read yet maybe 6-7 and at the time harry potter had just become THE biggest thing

so the cheapscate dad that had never read or anything to the kid bought the cheapest harry potter thing he could find, a book

so the kis dragging this book around and i say oohh hey what have you there? kid says, its a harry potter, i say ? its a charector in a story ey did you read some harry potter in school?

totol blank face no clue what ive just said

kid walks away saying "i like harry potter"

so basically "i like iphone5 i dont know why but i do know its the popular thing to do"

Samsung said there is actually quite a demand for smaller screens in the market. So they're trying to cater to both ends if the screen size spectrum

The problem is that phones with smaller screen sizes tend to be within the mid/low range spectrum of specs. There's already a healthy mid/low range presence from most of the Android handset makers, and this satisfies the demand for cheaper phones. What's really lacking, and what the S3 Mini was supposed to fill, is a high end phone with good specs and a smaller screen. It does have a smaller screen, but then goes ahead to compromise on the other specs anyway [1 GHz dual core, not quad; 480 x 800 resolution; 5 MP camera], which pretty much just makes it nothing more than yet another mid/low spec phone. And it seems priced too high for what it offers.
GSMArena wrote:Sadly, the Samsung Galaxy S III mini isn't the compacted version of the Galaxy S III flagship some may’ve hoped for. What we got instead is a Galaxy S Advance on a new chassis and a minor RAM upgrade. In fact, on one market or the other, the Galaxy S Advance was known as the Samsung Galaxy S II Lite, so you can guess where this is going.
