Re: mars landing

-NASA uber calibrates camera to give the most honest representation of how it would look to the naked eye, and writes an entire article about it
-Some moron photoshops in earth sky

Re: mars landing
They tweaked the colors to make it look like what it would like like if seen on Earth, too. Kinda retarded IMO. I want to see what it would look like if I was standing on Mars.

Re: mars landing
well, that's disappointing and utterly retarded.
Re: mars landing
Lol NASA...this looks like evidence that there may not even be a rover there after all...
Re: mars landing
^ because of course NASA would outsource their fakery to 'some guy on the internet', and not care if he told everyone
IT'S SO OBVIOUS

Re: mars landing
My guess is the tweaking was fairly minor and probably had to do with the thinner atmosphere changing the way the sun lights the area. Agreed though, a raw photo > *.Transient wrote:They tweaked the colors to make it look like what it would like like if seen on Earth, too. Kinda retarded IMO. Re: mars landing
I wouldn't mind it so much if there was a raw version available as well. Granted, the guy didn't have to do the panorama in the first place, but if you're going to put that much effort into it, spend another 5 minutes going one step further.

Re: mars landing
Much better, thanks.
A bit eerie, though. It definitely looks otherworldly (appropriately enough).

Re: mars landing
i wonder if we evolved there, if we'd get eyesight very sensitive to the wavelength on that end of the spectrum, and have completely shit capability for the rest of it.
Re: mars landing
That is kinda eerie, actually. Strange to see a totally barren landscape like that, then a high-tech rover sitting there. Cheers

Re: mars landing
It's so... empty.

Re: mars landing
I can almost understand their eagerness to touch up the image. the raw copy seems like it's taken by an amateur camera with a shitty lense.
