really, it loses a lot of appeal if the viewer knows who the killer is from the start. hardly room for shocking developments.

unless the killer is played by John Lithgow ofcourse. he brings the A-game

yeah, this season is the weakest yet. they brought in james edward olmos, but he seems to spend most of his time at the back of the bus, narratively speaking. instead all we get is colin hanks bringing a totally unmenacing prep school vibe

also, the writing is fucking terrible, almost descending to 'person of interest'-level banality at times

not to mention, that they have completely thrown in the towel when it comes to quality and consistency control. when Dexter was describing the dude's death, it was totally wrong, when they finally reviewed the tape. It wasn't dexter's mistake as a blood analyst, as that scene was clearly set up to demonstrate how bad ass he is at his job... It was shitty scene / script communication. This show is now officially being phoned in. As I kept watching the opening theme scene they do on every episode (you know dexter doing his breakfast thing), i started realizing that this part is now more well thought out, polished and professionally directed than the actual episodes.

I'm pretty sure Dexter's analysis was spot on compared to the tape. not sure though.

I will say again; they need to fire their editor. Quick cuts from the hospital to Travis to the beach with hardly any breathing room for the viewer to take in whatever revelation they cooked up.. fairly annoying.

I liked the ending of this one tho, I hope they are going where I think they are going with this.

don't speak too soon. 10 euroclams says that brother sam 'manifests' himself like harry and dexter's bro, and he and bro compete for dexter's soul, or some shitty obvious scenario like that

also, how dumb is the target demographic for this show now? when dexter compares the bullet from brother sam and the one he digs out of the wall, you can clearly see on the screen that the markings are a match, and (assuming you are not functionally retarded) draw the conclusion that funboy pendajo whatsisface is the shooter, yet the writers felt they needed to SPELL IT THE FUCK OUT via dexter's internal monologue

Still better than season 5, especially with no Lawhore/Fatista couples counseling taking screen time.

Colin Hanks is a shitty antagonist, I miss Trinity and the Ice Truck Killer :(

Colin Hanks is a great antagonist. He's invisible in a crowd, just like Trinity.

I do wish, however, that his character would get over his angst and just go full psycho. He still too busy thinking with his dick.

So you say he's a great antagonist, yet you wish he would go full psycho, or in other words, actually antagonize. You think ITK or Trinity would ever have gone against their own plans and released a victim?

So far he sucks, you're mad, I win.

the only sensible ending for the season is Dexter getting caught and sentenced to death.

When big brother showed up, it seemed like it might propel him into a murderous rampage, but by the end of the episode Harry is back in the passenger seat.

*yawn*

They really could have gone somewhere with that. I guess not if they want another two seasons though.

I think it fits in with the theme this season between the concepts of light/dark. It is a shame it was just one episode, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him show up again. Don't see him in the credits for the rest of this season though.

It's no masterpiece, but I'm enjoying this season. Why do all you haters download it every week?
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.

let's play a game of 'guess the well-known but not major league actor who'll be roped in to play the bad guy'

brian dennehy?
chiwetel ejiofor?
patrick duffy?
alan alda?

come to think of it, dexter hasn't gone up against a female nemesis yet...

"Hello, it's me. It's been taken care of. Yes, I'm sure, you have nothing more to worry about."

I still watch it cause it's a laugh now. Before I was upset at how a once good show was ruined, now it's just a comedrama in it's poor writing and ridiculousness. I'm not even really invested in any of the characters any more.

What shoddy, shoddy writing. :olo:
