I'm sorry it's not a European style house with stone archways, multi-peaked roof lines and brick facades - You mean the houses and buildings that have stood for centuries, many longer than your country has existed including my family home.
But this isn't Europe. This is Florida - One's a continent, the other a state. Also, sorry but i can't help that.
where homes have to be built with structural integrity as a key design requirement - because it's huge shithole.
High peaked roofs and spanning openings are big no nos when you're dealing with the high winds we get around here - More like cheap to build, quick to demolish.

Yes. It's 2,400 under air and a total of 3,000 under roof.

Not at all. 50-60mph winds bro. Mad stuff. In fact I believe they all live underground in Scotland.

So it's 2,400 sqft. It would be nice to claim I live in a 4,800 sqft house. But reality says it's only 3,500 sqft... Cuz nobody includes garages, porches, unfinished basements etc as square footage... U can't just make up your own rules here...

You mean to tell me no one is interested in total square footage when they're buying a home? Must be a Texas thing.

When homes are appraised, unfinished basements, unheated or uncooled areas, garages etc arent counted as square footage. This is what realtors go by and these guidelines have always been used by ppl when describing the size of their houses. Now u come along and pretend it hasn't been this way so ur house doesn't sound small. Kinda gay... Grow up Mr. Tinyhouse...

There have been and always will be two measures of a home. Under air and under roof. I suggest you contact your real estate salesman for more information.
