Picking up an iphone 6 on Friday. My 3GS is starting to crap out and I felt it was a good time to upgrade.

I've heard a lot about the U2 album but I don't use itunes so I've yet to see it.

As far as defending a purchase, I just bought it because I enjoyed my 3GS and I'm comfortable with the system. I also occasionally do freelance work on iphone apps.

It's a phone. Why are people getting flustered over it?

Actually, those are features iPhones have had for years as well. Those messaging related features, for instance, have been available to iOS for ages through WhatsApp, Hangouts and similar apps.

The thing I find most interesting about articles like these is that they're saying that these are the best points of iOS, while in reality they are merely the best points of apps running on top of iOS. The stock apps aren't all that interesting when you know there's a world of apps to be discovered in the App Store (or Google Play Store, in the case of Android). Then again, this might be a cultural difference between iPhone and Android users. (Stereo)typically, iPhone users find out what their device can do out of the box and stick with that whereas Android users find out how they can customize the device entirely to their liking.
