Mass Effect the Third
Re: Mass Effect the Third
what's the point of preserving organics if they will eventually be wiped out? Why insist in organic life taking place if it will prove that it is inadequate and will ultimately fail? On that note, why assume that being wiped out by our creations is a failure in the first place?
Allowing the cycle to take place endlessly for whatever misguided emotionally drenched philosophy is rubbish. It selfishly assumes that organic life is the pinnacle of the cosmos' existence.
I say let our synthetic creations wipe us out and let those flourish. Why try to ignore natural selection/progression?

I say let our synthetic creations wipe Tsakali out.
But yeah, I thought it stupid that a supremely advanced...whatever it is...would create synthetic monsters to wipe us out in an on-going effort to stop synthetic monsters from wiping us out.

I'm assuming he's referring to the endings. The only difference was the color of the blast coming from the catalyst.

Re: Mass Effect the Third
According to Bioware, there are 16 possible endings. I don't notice the tiny details, but I did notice that if you chose "the one on the right" and your score is low, you destroy not only the Citadel and all the relays in the galaxy, but every living thing on Earth is scorched to ash when the Citadel explodes. I wouldn't call that "winning".xer0s wrote:I'm assuming he's referring to the endings. The only difference was the color of the blast coming from the catalyst.

Re: Mass Effect the Third
Ok here's the deal for you noobs concerned.
The Citadel ending is all part of the Reaper indoctrination. If Shepard chooses to control the Reapers or merge with them, he is giving in to the indoctrination and therefore the Reapers win. If he chooses to destroy them, he breaks the indoctrination, but if the effective military strength is below 5000, Shepard won't survive.
So basically, choose red and you win the game. Also xer0s sniffs glue for fun. Anymore questions?

Anyone still play ME2? I just recently saw This video
And I've shamelessly stole the guy's build and play style. He makes it look a little easier cause he has all the enemy spawns memorized, but it's still really cool to see such an aggressive style viable on insanity, plus he's playing on a 360
Haha, that's some hardcore finger acrobatics.
Basically he has squad mates' powers (he has it set so they don't use them and he uses them a lot while keeping mental track of the cooldowns) mapped to the d-pad and to do the reload trick you need to hold down the fire trigger then press the melee button when you hear the "click." For PC users it doesn't sound too complicated cause you have the keyboard and mouse to work with, but with a 360 controller it means taking your thumbs off at least one of the analog sticks to get the d pad or the melee button, so being able to get the thumbs back to the sticks in order to still move and aim that quickly is impressive. Haha, hence the finger acrobatics. It's more impressive when you realize how often he's using the melee button and the d pad in the middle of a close range fire fight (requiring to sacrifice either aim or movement for a split second) while keeping mental track of the power cool downs and relying on the audio cue of the "click" all at once.
/nerd.
I still figured it'd be cool to watch for pc players cause it'd still be impressive if he was playing on the pc.
I can only get the Claymore reload trick to work about 50% of the time so he can shoot a lot faster than me (reload trick saves about 1 second between shots...which is huge) and I don't have all the spawns memorized so sometimes I get ambushed after a charge, but it's still a ton of fun.

Re: Mass Effect the Third
I started ME3, but didn't get too far before I heard about the ending and then heard they're going to "add insight" or whatever through cutscenes. They're not changing the ending I guess, but I don't know when I'll play through the whole game again a second time so I want the whole ending experience the first time through.Memphis wrote:Vanguard in ME2 is a fucksight easier than in 3.
Fuck Banshees.
I decided to go back and have fun in ME2 in the mean time.
edit: Vanguard in ME2 plays drastically differently that it did in the first game, and I remember when ME2 first came out everyone was saying Vanguard was now the worst class because charge was seen as suicidal and only to be used when there was like 1 remaining enemy, making it a suicidal move that was situational at best. As people figured out the game a little more there was a huge shift and now it's seen as one of the most powerful classes.
Give the ME3 metagame some time to evolve and people will start doing crazy stuff.

Bansees are easy with vanguard
Re: Mass Effect the Third
So I just completed the Extended Cut DLC and I can happily say it answered a ton of questions and far exceeded my expectations. Now we just have to hope they'll keep releasing multiplayer and campaign DLC to keep the game fresh.
Re: Mass Effect the Third
I wish they'd improve the matchmaking, I'm really tired of getting thrown into a game with a bunch of Puerto Ricans with donkey-powered ISPs and you have no way of realizing just how laggy it is until the Banshee on Wave 8 warps and grabs you from 50 feet away.
Re: Mass Effect the Third
Finally beat the game, didn't love the ending but still thought it was good.
I love quake!

Re: Mass Effect the Third
Well this is the gaming industry standard. Develop a full game, then lop off about 30% of the gameplay and sell it back to the player individually as DLC several months apart.
The ME3 artbook even shows Omega concept art and renders for the new Reaper aliens.

Re: Mass Effect the Third
Not just on about the DLC, which does take the piss in itself with the frequency and would be enough to drive the most hardcore fan bases sceptical, but mainly on about them and the whole franchise, including EA and how they manage to destroy anything that was at one point, excellent. It was obvious what was gonna happen, even when they were spouting shit like *we could make EA better* (hahaha), followed by 2 of the founders leaving for reasons unknown.
ME3 could've and would've been part of one of the most epic gaming series of all time, the finale in the trilogy, instead they failed to close any of the running stories and just gave us a complete 'wtf' moment, put the action on some steroids and stopped caring about anything else.
Bet my bottom dollar that there'll be another Mass Effect due for release that will leave the franchise fall into what Battlefield has become, a big cow full of cash (fuck dice too). It reminds me of LOST, everyone loved it til the writers stopped caring or showing any respect to their fans by meandering from 1 series to the next. When's the last time anyone mentioned that bastardisation of a series ?, same will happen to this as soon as it stops earning money and EA stop milking it for everything its worth.
and all this is without mentioning TOR.
People like you buying this shit DLC isn't helping either, no offence (if you did purchase it), but if everyone stopped choking on dick and stopped handing over money on shit like day 1 DLC, then this would'nt be the way it has to be or a sign of things to come.

well, yeah no practice gets...practiced if it doesn't work. People are sheep, deal with that reality instead of expecting a company to practice business ethics that would go against their bottom dollar. If you can't expect the customers to have the self restraint it requires to do what would actually benefit them, what would ever motivate a company to do so, when it would actually come at a loss.
The more I think about it the more ludicrous and misplaced all this hating seems.

Re: Mass Effect the Third
all I heard was 'Baa'
It's all about reputation and they somehow managed to throw it away by the bucketload, got fuck all to do with ethics really and many games studios have and still produce cracking games without the feeling that your getting fucked in the arse. All that 'misplaced' hate is the result of this and the reason why they had to rework the ending after release, so I call bullshit on the 'ludicrous' also as some boffins seemed to take it seriously enough, shame they couldn't figure out why piracy is so tempting as they're building a gap in a story specifically for a future release.
