another one of my fav guitarists is Robert Fripp (from the band King Crimson). he's not exactly a speed demon like most of the guys mentioned here but he was one of the first guitarists to use lydian mode and tritone figures in rock music...now nearly all of metal music does!

thanks for turning me on to all these great guitarists, some of them I was not familiar with. There are a lot of different styles here, so sometimes it's kind of like compare apples and oranges, but most of these dudes are pretty badass guitarists.
