Cingular, Apple, Motorola Launch World's First Mobile Phone with iTunes

Cingular, Apple and Motorola today introduced the world's first mobile phone with iTunes, enabling music lovers to transfer up to 100 of their favorite songs from the iTunes jukebox on their Mac or PC to their mobile phone.

Apple's iTunes software on the Motorola ROKR features easy-to-use menus, simple navigation and playback and the ability to switch from phone to music and back with the push of a dedicated music key.

At Cingular Locations Sept. 8

The new Motorola ROKR, available at www.cingular.com will be sold exclusively in all Cingular retail locations beginning Sept. 8.

"We're excited to be the first wireless carrier to offer the world's first phone with iTunes to our customers nationwide," said Ralph de la Vega, Cingular Chief Operating Officer. "This innovative product represents a world class handset, connected to a world class network, delivering a world class application."

The eagerly anticipated
Cingular iTunes Phone from Motorola
plays up to 100 songs from
your computer's iTunes playlist...
with Apple's famous simplicity.

The new Motorola ROKR has a color display for viewing album art and features built-in dual-stereo speakers, as well as stereo headphones that also serve as a mobile headset with microphone.

"The ROKR brings music to the mobile phone in a way unlike any other, with the unrivaled ease of use that has become the signature of iTunes," said Ed Zander, chairman and CEO of Motorola. "We predict that the ROKR is going to be a hit this holiday season."

Music fans can randomly autofill or manually fill the mobile phone with playlists from their favorite music, audiobooks and Podcasts from their iTunes library via a USB connection. The Motorola ROKR pauses music automatically when users take a call and offers the ability to listen to music while messaging with friends or snapping a photo.

"We've worked closely with Motorola to deliver the world's best music experience on a mobile phone," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "We're also thrilled to be working with Cingular to bring this pioneering phone to market."

Pricing and Availability

The new Motorola ROKR with iTunes pre-installed is available for $249.99 with a two-year commitment at all Cingular stores and includes stereo headphones and a USB cable.

iTunes for Mac and Windows includes the iTunes Music Store and is available as a free download from www.apple.com/itunes. Purchasing and downloading songs from the iTunes Music Store for Mac or Windows requires a valid credit card with a billing address in the country of purchase.

you never fail to bite, its astounding - you seem to have a real confidence issue to me - the slightest piss take brings out the teenage whineathon - now that IS funny - please continue with the usual parade of nerd denials, self affirmation through intercock measurement and tales of your "julie" worshipping you etc blah blah ..

So which phones do look good then according to you? If you're going to post a flip-open type phone I'll fly over to the UK and hit you. In the cunt.

Agreed on all the others, I just don't like the designs, the designs are for the most part bloody boring and pretty ugly. I've not seen a flippy/slidy phone of theirs so far that I've liked even a little bit.

As for 6230s I don't agree, they stuck with a design that works even if it's not incredibly small (though smaller than my brick of a 3310) and it's a fairly attractive phone with enough functionality.

But if I get a phone any time soon it'll be the Samsung D500.

i have two friends that returned them because of a flimsy clamshell shortly after purchase. i've seen it. it's talked about. i'm not dreaming it. more than my opinion.

congratulations on your sturdy motorola razr

nano has too little capacity, altough ity looks 100x better than the mega-ugly mini, its still shitty. i got an ipod photo 30 gig, its way handier if u can just drop anything on it you want without having to delete other mp3s

it's made out of aluminum, it's not flimsy. Maybe our definitions of flimsy aren't the same. I suspect you mean the pivot point between the keypad and the display is loose because i can't imagine any other part of a metal phone could be flimsy
