Actually, I'm partial to the approach that a police officer offered on the news last night. If they're looting non-necessities, then handcuff them to a pole, put a sign around their neck that says "LOOTER" and let happen what may.

I agree with you for the most part. The problem I have though, is in a situation like this, that is beyond dire for everyone there already, there is only one rational thing to do: take care of you and yours, and when you're safe and as comfortable as can be expected, help others in the community do the same.

These looters and gangbangers are taking an unbelieveable catastrophe, and actually adding to it and making it worse, so I can't find an ounce of pity or even sympathy in my heart for anyone who is looting non-necessities, when there are dozens of other things they could be doing that would - if not help the situation - at least not make things worse.
