BUT 60 gb...i can fit my whole CD collection on it. no need for my 5 disc changer at home or anywhere else i go. just make a playlist and bam. i didnt really buy it as a portable player.

i never looked into any other alternatives but i got a $100 off coupon from my credit card company whcihc brought it down to $299, same as a 3rd gen 20GB.

i can understand the storage part of it to a degree. other than that though..i cannot think of any other reason to get an ipod over a 'competing' RIO. unless to be fashionably keeping up with the joneses is your aim

- sound
- size (dimensions of a business card)
