Not related to NAFTA, CAFTA but outsourcing in the US has become a big issue, you can't call a support line anymore without having to listen to some foreign person run through a script just to find out you've already done most of those things.

Also, from my personal perception in Tampa, we have businesses going under left and right. The economy is supposed to be doing great but people can't even afford the houses on the money they bring in every month, people are moving down from the north because the houses are cheaper down here but the pay doesn't match the living expenses. It's crazy, I bought my 1500 Sq Ft house for 140k, 2 years ago it's now going for 280k.. that's ridiculous, the taxes are higher now and you can't find anything in the mid 100's any longer brand new... luckily the wife and I make decent coin but alot of our friends and family are having a hard time.

Just US issues in general..

Dek wrote:Actually no, I usually present my argument. I'm a liberal as well, registered Democrat. kinda opposite of where you like to paint me.

I'm anti-bush, he's the worst thing to happen to the country since he's father was president.

Pro-America, yes.. Anti-bush. If that's wrong.. well sue me
I'll sue you if your credos are as follows:

-America is an empire and a superpower, although a noble one fighting only for justice and freedom, not profits and power.
-Our enemies are always the aggressors, not us. We are always on the defensive (despite being exponentially the strongest and richest).
-The media paints a “close enough” picture of reality. We have more freedom of speech than anyone, so how could any truth be kept from the public?
-Opposing war means siding with the enemy and supporting war means well wishing the troops. If you oppose a government sponsored war you are contributing to disunity and then the terrorist win.
-US military and secret service are as humane as possible, but it’s OK for them to break rules to catch terrorists.
-Admitting to mistakes ruins our credibility to the world.

Combine the last one with any of them for a good laugh.

Oh I hope to hell they do this...just for shits and giggles to see how childish the yanks can become before saying "psyche!"
Alberta oil should not be used as pawn in lumber row with U.S., Klein says

Trade tensions with the United States will only get worse if Canada threatens to withhold access to Alberta oil in retaliation for American intransigence in the softwood lumber dispute, Premier Ralph Klein said. "I'm a firm believer in the processes that have been put in place and I'm also a believer that if we start to use measures that are deemed to be vindictive, then that only creates vindictiveness on the other side and it starts to escalate," he said. "As much as it is tempting, as much as many people have suggested that perhaps we can use [access to oil] as leverage, I only think that this heightens trade wars and that is something that I would not want to see."
Sign up to read the rest if you want to. I haven't found anything on Google using "Canada threatens to withhold access to Alberta oil"...and I'm too lazy to find more myself.

Summary: Canadians got wood and the Americans position is, at best , limp.

Americans consumers should be as angry with this US producer' s lobby group as Canadians. They have paid an average of about $1000 per house built into this ill gotten 5 billion dollar duty account that is going to these bastards

Under trade rules, if Washington can't prove Canadian timber injures or threatens to injure U.S. producers, it is obliged to scrap the duties on Canadian lumber imports.

Wednesday's decision should end the dispute immediately.

But the United States said the extraordinary challenge committee ruling was inconsequential and that it had no intention of scrapping the duty on Canadian softwood that can exceed 20 per cent or refunding the $5-billion in levies collected over the past few years.
This in a nutshell is why the US is such a piece of shit in the administrative sense. "UN mandates, international law, and other treaties apply when countries we don't like break them, but if we break them we expect to be forgiven immediately." Fuck them. Especially Denz.
