It's the fact that the company Apple Computerm has finally offered one. Apple has been notorious for sticking to the 1-button option. When computers first started using mice a single button was good for new users, but these days folks feel limited by fewer than 2 buttons. It's good that Apple has recognized this and has finally offered this option.
But OS X has right click built into it already
They've supported multiple buttons for 3rd party devices, but have never offered a multi-button option until now. It's always been up to the user to add that functionality later.
