OK, so a new track i'm working on...

Using that argument, highly respected artists such as Brian Eno or Coil are not musicians.

Your views on music are narrow. For someone who preaches music theory, i'm surprised you're not willing to accept that all sound is music. Maybe read up on Cage or Stockhausen sometime.

PS, my track isn't the issue here. I've accepted your criticism, and it really doesn't hurt me to know you don't like it... I didn't expect you to anyway

I have to agree about the main drum beat. It feels a little repetitive and simple. I would have liked to hear more diversity in the rhythm and sound. It remind me of the bleu group.

I personally enjoy the last 1/4 of the track. That's when I feel like the song really grows into it's own.

My views are not narrow, I already listed a few genres I like.
All sound is music, yes. So is an alarm bell. Just like in visual art, a cigarette stub in an ashtray is considered. .'art'.
I know you're doing this as a hobby and not professionally so I don't mean to sound harsh, but as usual, amateur hobbyists can't take criticism without getting all defensive.

I think it sounds ok, much better than the whistles and buzzes of a lot of the techno out there, and the drum beat isn't something that reminds you of a diesel lawnmower. I would say it's pleasant to listen to, but for some reason it keeps skipping on my computer. The hell?

My main gripe is not that it lacks musicianship, but that it sounds too fakey. The drums sound like, well, like they're from a drum machine. I would say it would be much more impressive if you got a troupe to play the song on instruments. Then the sound quality would be great.

Whatever happened to most of the genres I listed above? Don't you like any of them? I'm assuming all your mp3s listed there are of the techno/electronica style variety, no? I'll bet very few of your mp3's have real live musicans playing in the studio, it's mostly programmed stuff, right? No? You can hardly call me narrow in my musical views going by your taste.

Sure, though its not that great IMO. Just your usual stand-up aggressive techno affair. Speedy J peaked around the G-Spot era for me. I love that album.
