They put the content in there for a reason. They wanted this controversy, and most likely information on how to access the so-called hack was leaked by them to spawn the controversy.

This sort of greedy thinking has lead to the decline of any sense of maturity and respect these kids have. Pushing the limits and desensitizing the youth has resulted in the Jackass Generation: Little snots who call their parents by their first names, break things for no reason, litter, and fail to work with society.

Record companies pushed rappers to say more shocking things. Television producers wanted more sex and violence. Game developers want more of the same. Clothing companies sell thongs to little girls.

Shock factor is an elevating variable. They can only desensitize more, and that is a bad thing.

There is a difference between learned values (read: religion) and the moral archetypes of humanity. While one may argue that censoring violence is correlative to Christianity being a proper and nonviolent religion, we must also understand that violence in practice does not teach us anything. Only reflection brings us the reasoning necessary to hopefully stop it from happening again.

While I don't disagree with you entirely, I do have to note that I have been playing violent games ever since Wolfenstein 3D and I have never, ever harmed any other human being or animal (bugs not included).

Thank the Gods not everyone is like you. Entertainment in general is a problem. Games are a big problem because they're the new favorite activity of youngsters.

You can't make a case against all of entertainment in the courts. This is why censorship advocates look like pricks when they go after games like DOOM and GTA... Because in the game community, it appears that they're just picking on games.

The goal of the modern shysters is to make the next generation of _____ more shocking than the current so the kids will eat it up. They don't care about morals and how there is a balance because of them (and also inherited from western Christian values). They want dollars, and for example, they've realized they cannot sell you a television show about restoring a car, but they can about pimping it. It not only fuels their idealogy of pointless ultraconsumerism, but also their goal of desensitization. HEYYYY Pimps are nice guys. I'm a pimp. They're not trashy street lords, pushing drugs on broken women. They're just nice white boys who work two jobs to feed their family and drive a beat up car. (Notice how everything under MTV Networks' belt is shock and awe garbage. SpikeTV (AKA The Boob Channel), Comedy Central (Racism, and toilet humor), and MTV - The channel that in just one decade has raised a generation that believes oral sex comes before the first kiss.

The sad thing is that the idiots who watch these channels think a group of really hip characters are running the show. Instead is a think tank of old idiots who want to figure out the next thing to sell en masse to the marks.

Like maddox mentioned indirectly - what the hell happens to a kid between the years of 17 and 18 that makes it suddenly OK for them to see porn and sex?
well for starters, most of em get laid.

What the hell? I'm jumping on the bandwagon. This type of disgusting behavior was not advertised. I'm down for free money.

Cohen said in the suit that she bought the game in late 2004 for her grandson when it was rated “M” for mature, for players 17 and older. According to the suit, she directed that it be taken away from her grandson, which was done.
so she gets the ps2 version in late 2004 and all the crap that started now started with the pc version a few weeks ago. the odds are the the kid is done with the game, doesn't play it anymore and the kid never saw the hot coffee shit to start with.

Now, about this Hot Coffee bullshit.

I hate having to be the voice of reason here...but GTA was promoting
ultra-violence, sexism, and racism already. Now someone unlocks a little
badly-rendered, soft-core porn and it becomes a national emergency?

If you couldn't get worked up about San Andreas before now, you really REALLY
missed your window for righteous indignation, Hillary.

lol, I hog the SPMA in onslaught and camp the enemy base, even when the power core is not vulnerable...just to rain continuous fire (aka the Lord's Fury) down on them to maximize their screaming. I laugh every fucking time.

Heh, that's quite a horrible sound indeed.

I must also say that games like Manhunt or Postal, where violence is the only thing the game was made for don't appeal to me either. I don't mind violence and gore per sé, but the game's depth shouldn't end there.
