Haven’t had a problem with the game yet. Couple minor things like binding keys but nothing that degrades my gameplay experience. I’m sure this expansion was already in development before bf2 was even released.

Change can be a good thing. Not all expansions are bad.

Personally, I'll be boycotting this expansion, as I would prefer to see them create complete conversion mods instead.

I do remember liking the WW2 mod for BF:V though. That was a cool little mod. :D

Played for more than a few hours in one sitting? on ranked servers no less?

Ranked servers are laggy as shit
Theres a stupid memory leak thats just GREAT FUN!
And theres CHEATERS running around freely..
Oh, and theres Rank cheaters as well..

Thats two bugs...
The cheaters are inevitable in most online games.
Im playing on low ping 10 or 100 mbit servers where i ping 20-35 and i have no lag problems at all.
The memory leak i had the fortune to not come across i guess.. the biggest problem for me is the fucked up server browser and occasionaly weird rainbow colors on vechicles(happesn 1 out of 50 times i join a game...and it's usually ONE and same vehicle) so overall the game runs pretty fucking good if you compare to other games.
It's not far from flawless if you ask me...

Cheaters, are already far to frequent.. they need to do something about it..

Memory leak, is "fixable" if you roll back to v1.0 but still should NOT have been pushed out in the patch.. :-\

Ranked servers ARE laggy, you know those times you SWEAR TO GOD you hit the person, and they magicly kill you? Server lag is what that is from the ranking system.. its not client lag, its server lag.. and its not ping related.. :-\ and its totally random.. which sucks.. if it was timed you could work around it, but its so random you cant get a pattern to work with..

Dude, go read the Planet Battlefield forums. HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of people are having MANY problems with this game. If you've had few or no issues, you're very lucky. Mine STILL locks up occasionally, the ranked servers are near unplayable, there's the wrong-color enemy tag bug, random crashes to the desktop, weird graphical errors, crap performance on high-end systems, etc., etc.
Trust me, I want to love this game, but it's a turd in a box.
When EA/DICE get off their asses and fix the problems, THEN it will be awesome. Not now, no way.
If they can get it to the same level of performance and stability as BF:V, I'll be very happy.

Ive had very little issues personally.. but its true, the game is fucked.. :(

It dont stop me from playing tho.. even know the lag kills my rank..

Oh, btw, I think my lockup problem is caused by graphics, not sound. When I turned some of the detail back up, it locked, even with the sound accel to none. I need another Gb of RAM.

Still playing with 1Gig here.. NO problems with framerates or crashing.. :(

and im playing in some retarded high detail too o_O

I was experiencing some stuttering in the game after map load when i would look around, 2gb of ram does wonders, totally cleared that up. As for laggy servers, try playing on 32player servers.
I was beginning to think the laggy server thing was all ironed out, I havent run into any in a while. None of the "US Official EC..." servers are laggy for me.
There are bound to be a shitload of complaints on forums. Think of the thousands of 12yr olds playing this on their parents virus infested outdated computers and then bitching about crashes on forums.
Im not saying the hardware req couldent be a bit broader, but its a new game...alot of these people are coming from Bf1942 still, which will play on pretty low systems.
My pc isnt new by any standards and it plays like butter on med no AA, all ive done is get some extra ram.

XP 3200+, 2gb ram, x800 vid.

As for the expansion, EA runs a business. Do any of you think the marketing dept has anything to do with the programmers developing a patch? You guys make it sound like they pulled all the guy's who were coding off the project so they could photoshop some new adverts and type up some promo's for the new ex pack. The site admin on the EA forums is locking all the complaint threads, and he has clearly stated that its a whole seperate team that has been working on the expansion.

Many times it's the users pc that is the problem, im not saying there are no bugs... but alot of users have low end pc's,weird drivers, overclocked cards/cpu's etc etc... you just said it yourself.. you lowered graphics and the lockup bug dissapeared.. was that your fault or EA's/DICE? :icon32:

I guess i've been lucky with bugs and crashes then. :paranoid:

Umm, yeah, that's going to be EA's fault. I have an XP2500+, 1Gb of Kensington PC2700, and a GF6800GT.

it's a good time to buy ram. cheap cheap

even a 512 stick would fix you up ns.

I said many, not your pc specific.. so stop whining will ya?
You said it yourself.. you fixed the lockup when you turned down graphics... this game needs one hell of a pc to run it flawless and everything on full, dont sit there being ignorant thinking your pc is some kind of a super uber pc.

Yes there are bugs.. but not more compared to other pc titles, it's just that people are more mad because this is like THE most anticipated fullscale war game ever.

Hey reef, here's a tip: Don't fucking tell me I'm whining when I and several thousand other people have very legitimate gripes about a game we dished out fat cash for, ok?

And FYI, the lockup isn't completely gone. When I reinstalled last night after uninstalling to remove EA/DICE's wonderful fucking patch, I found that I'm now getting lag in SP MODE. Ahh, all the joys of being connected to a shitty server, but in convenient offline format! Stop being a damn fanboy and admit that this game has a SHITLOAD of bugs and needs serious work.

think it will work allright with max settings in like 1024x768 on a athlon64 3000+ 512 ddr 3200 cas 2 with 6800gt

do yourself a favour optimus, grab a 1 gig stick. you have a nice system there, no sense letting it go to waste in bf2 with 512 ram.

with at least 1.5 you'll be able run everything maxed, with some AA.

oki tho if i add 1gb stick will it still run at 3200 because last time i had 1.5gb with 3 sticks it was running at 333mhz fsb

Posted: Fri Jul 15, 2005 6:15 pm
by shadd_
two sticks will run at 400, you 'may' have to slack the timings a little.

three sticks you can just up the fsb, drop the mutli to get it at 400. to be honest i found running 333vs400 with tight timings does not seem to make much of a difference anyways with an a64.

ah ok, il get another corsair xms stick, tho 1gb which are cas 3 right?

Posted: Fri Jul 15, 2005 6:50 pm
by shadd_
i'm not totally up to par on the timings with 1gig sticks. i know some people get away with cas2.

you might have to go from 1T>2T as well. just stick the 1gig stick in slot1 with auto detect, use cpuz to see what it sets everything to then you can go from there.
