There is no "maximize" button per se, but the green button will resize the window accordingly. It may maximize it depending on what is in the window to be displayed.

So - my only option to make my browser fit the whole screen is to minimize the dock and drag the window to fit the whole screen? That fucking sucks.

why would you need it to span the entire window, resizing it to fit the content is no different, except then you have no useless side space wasted.

I love Macs for their simplicity and stability, but man, what an awful UI. You have to do everything the long way. I mean, the home and end keys don't even work in text boxes. Come on!

You find ways around it and get used to it.. I always try to use mac shortcuts on windows, so I know it becomes natural

lol, I had to get used to this too. There's an add-in (dunno wtf I should call it) program for Safari, called Saft with a fullscreen option. btw, how much mem did you get with the Mini? Hopefully not 256 Mb, 512 is the minimum for Tiger to work properly.

Plus they can do it with passive cooling

I have a 7200 RPM drive in my Powerbook 'cos it used to be part of my recording setup until I bought the G5. No problems with heat or noise, and it gave a nice boost to the OS. But yeah, the fact that the Mini doesn't have any fan noise is pretty sweet - that's why my dad got one rather than any other model, it was to replace his Cube.

how did you get a 7200 rpm hd into your pb?
wasn't one of the options when I got my 12"PB

Bought it and installed it 
There's instructions on how to swap out the hard disk in the manual that comes with the powerbook. It's either a Hitachi or IBM model, can't remember which - it's one of the Travelstar ones, I think.
Battery life is possibly a bit shorter with it.

Yeah, I only got the 256MB one. It's not bad - a little sluggish starting some programs, but once they're up they work fine. One thing has impressed me so far - all I had to do to get pictures out of my camera was to plug it in and open iPhoto.

Edit: The KVM switch I got was $70 - works better than I expected too. It actually switches audio between the machines as well. Hit scroll lock twice and you flip to the next machine. Pretty cool.
