on a REAL racing note, poor Kimi Raikkonen

Poor F1 for having to put up with these stupid fucking rules. GG to them on the tire tether, though. That worked like a champ and should be instituted in IRL and a lot of other racing leagues. Not NASCAR, though. I want as many of those fucking inbred retards taken out by flying debris as possible.

yeah, the tire tether is just one of those "why didn't they think of that sooner" type of idea.

i agree, some of the rules have gotten a bit ridiculous, but i'm glad they went to one qualifying session on Saturdays.

No and i understand that, its just something thats always struck me oddly in any sport or event.. something that was "all male" suddenly gets changed because some chick says "OMG I CAN DO (Insert sport/event here) TOO! LEMME TRY!"..

Could see your point if she was getting in without legitimately qualifying simply because she was a woman, but car racing is one of those sports where women might actually have a legitimate physical advantage over their male competitors (being lighter). She was legit all the way. I have no problem with women trying the men's sports so long as nothing is changed for them, and they aren't taking the place of a more qualified male (for example - let's say that this chick was given a special exemption to get into the race instead of really qualifying, and in doing so , she was getting a position that people who had been working their asses off to get might have). Kind of like when Anika Sorenstam got into a men's tournament with a sponsor's exemption. If she wants to play with the men on the men's tour to prove she can, then she should do it full time...none of this play on the women's tour 99% of the time and then get sponsor's exemptions to get into big tournaments.

So, the bottom line - this is no big deal. Racing is not a male or female sport so far as I can see it. Why should she be denied the chance to compete if she is that good?

Don't take out the aggression you still harbor for being picked after girls for sports teams back in grade school on women athletes today (at least those who are earning everything they get.)
