Nice one Whiskey
The order for my TV was cancelled by the company as I feared. Damn it.

TV arrived - best pictures I have ever had the pleasure of watching. I would highly recommend an LG OLED

Post a pic when you got it looking as you want

OK so now I've had the chance to spend some time with this TV, I can safely say it's the most incredible picture I've ever seen. I've got a lovely 4k version of Pacific Rim and it's utterly mind blowing.
I'm waiting on a custom TV stand before I set the surround sound up, but the inbuilt sound bar is doing me a great service currently.
If you are thinking of buying a new TV, don't think about it. Just buy one of these things.

Yes I thought 55 was more than enough for the space. Once I have everything set up I'll upload some pictures

Nice man
Funny you should bring this back up, I have been thinking about these for some ATMOS sound

I think budget might get in the way at the moment though

Still waiting on my new TV cabinet, hence using a pikey one for now and not tidying the wires or the boxes.

Can't recommend this OLED enough buddy; brilliant colour. The E7 is apparently 25% brighter than the E6 (The one I have) but pretty much everything else is the same...if HDR is your thing there is support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision out of the box

There are still plasma TVs out there?shaft wrote:awesome. might be time to replace my plasma with an oled.
My first panel was a plasma. I still remember the day so well paying $14k AUD back then thinking they'd never get any cheaper

Gawd that Panasonic 42inch was a heavy beast but a great set. Sold it in 2011 for $100

I bought two Samsung PN8500's right before they stopped making them around 3 years ago.
Re: Any TV buffs in here? (Now added stereo)
A friend was debating whether to go LED or OLED - I remember him saying the difference in quality was incredible. What size did you go for?Don Carlos wrote:Can't recommend this OLED enough buddy; brilliant colour. Checking the price I don't think I'll be getting a 65" one

Re: Any TV buffs in here? (Now added stereo)
The blacks on an OLED are incredible, but the nits do not go as high. LG claim 800 on the 7 series but the QLED Samsung can do a theoretical 2000 nits, but the blacks are nowhere near as good. Depends what you want; for me there wasn't a choice to make after seeing them one after another.
I went 55 inch and paid £2000, which people bawk at until they realise it's the E series, not the B or C series. You'll struggle to get the E6 now; pretty much isn't available from anywhere.

Re: Any TV buffs in here? (Now added stereo)
In the end my friend bought a 65" Hisense "normal" LED TV. It looks great, the reviews for it are great, but he said he wished he'd never looked at the OLED ones
Yeah, if you watch a lot of films/TV that's not too bad of an investment really
