Finally got to Clubman in career mode and bought a Peugeot 205 T16 Evo II. What a change from the FWD 1960 Mini Cooper S wow

That's really cool. Would love to see the opinion of a pro rally driver on a game like this.Deathshroud wrote:If you haven't watched this, do so. The guy is ridiculously fast.

I need it pegged at 110 fps @ 7824x1440 otherwise there's too much input lag due to 4-way SLI.SoM wrote:your system can't handle rain ?
you got a beast
Thanks, I'll look into it. It's on the MEDIUM preset right now with 2x MSAA.Memphis wrote:Setting weather to 'low' won't help? If you have shaders on high btw, I'd recommend lowering that. If you go as far as low, it gets rid of that nasty DoF effect, which is a plus for me.ToxicBug wrote:Nice Memph, but can you please remove all rain stages? My PC can't handle rain.
It runs fine except I get a 50% fps drop in rain. I think it's a post-fx/optimization issue.Memphis wrote:NP. Screw presets though. I have everything on Ultra at 1920x1080, bar shaders, with 2xMSAA on a single GTX770.ToxicBug wrote:Thanks, I'll look into it. It's on the MEDIUM preset right now with 2x MSAA.
Ensure 'Advanced Blending' is off. It's bollocks and rapes your rig. Ambient occlusion is (as always) arguably pointless for the impact it can have. Surely you won't even need AA at that res? Try combining CMAA with FXAA - it adds some blur, but your jaggies be gone for the most part.
You can't disable SLI and keep Surround. It would also cut my FPS from 110 to 30.SoM wrote:disable SLI and run on one card on highest just for Dirt Rally
problem solved.
I'm a bit surprised you chose RWD for the event, I find it very hard. I'll give it a try though.Memphis wrote:I've been trying my hand at RWD - having always been really shite at it. The BMW felt a bit twitchy, but the Cossy, wow! This thing is crazy fun to drive - rounding bends on the throttle at opposite lock may not be the fastest, but fuck is it not half fun

Yesssss, great idea. I'm in, just sent my join request.Memphis wrote:They've had more than a few pro's play the game (and dominate the daily leaderboards). There's vids about, but no opinion piece afaik. The game has managed to convert the hardest of cored Richard Burns fans though, so that says something how it fares as a simulation, for those who take that element seriously.

Bring it slags
It was on sale 33% off as part of Codemasters sale until Halloween sale started yesterday. Otherwise its price increases by $2-5 USD with each update, so it's only gonna keep on getting more expensive. I bought it 15% off a month ago, no regrets. Best rally racing game I've ever played.losCHUNK wrote:This game on / likely to go on any deals ?
Hold off for Christmas, brolosCHUNK wrote:This game on / likely to go on any deals ?
Honestly I don't mind spending an extra $15 for DiRT Rally. What's that come out to, like 2-3 pints? Man, the amount of time and learning and realization I had this week preparing for my local league's Pike's Peak event alone makes up for it and then some.Memphis wrote:Aye. First time I've been genuinely glad to have purchased in early access. It started off rough, but it's come along in veritable leaps and bounds. £18 odd to start off, which had Wales, Greece and Cunty Marlo. Then Pikes Peak hillclimb was added + cars. Then 'Tarmac Terrors' in Germany + more cars. Rally Cross and multiplayer circuit racing + more cars. Finland was the last patch + moar cars, next we have the 'Modern Masters' car additions and the Winter Wonderland update before release.Deathshroud wrote:Wow, the price got jacked up, it used to be ~$35 USD, it's now $50.
I expect the price will top out at £35.99, to £39.99 with the winter update. Then 33% off over xmas.
Worth watching Humble and GMG for deals/vouchers too.
Will do, tonight or tomorrowMemphis wrote:Will go 4WD for the next stages. It's only 4 short stages and a long one. Get to bouncing.ToxicBug wrote:Nah, it's boring. They're too slow, takes too long to do a stage.
Let's do AWD, please.
No way! Practice first, then when you're competing it's the real deal. No restarts, no retries. This is rally.Deathshroud wrote:We should enable restarts as well. I dunno about you guys, but I restart...a lot.
