$23 an hour
£15 an hour. Less than double minimum wage
For a man in his 40's

Geoff, I've got some great news.. Been talking things over with my partner, and I've had my accountant look over my finances, and I'm putting in an offer on a new studio on Monday.
Take a look:
http://www.urbanspaces.co.uk/property-d ... -CSI140489
I'll post photos once I've got it, assuming my offer is accepted. It's a bit less than the asking price, not that I can't afford to just save the hassle and pay it if I wanted.
It's going to eat up nearly half my monthly income just in rental costs. Luckily I earn the same amount again and my partner pulls in an easy six figures, too. We won't feel the pinch too much - especially since I'll be able to hire it out for £600 a day while on location earning £2000+
You actual real life bum

Oh, ignore the bedroom, I'll probably just turn that into a place to dump equipment; I prefer the apartment in Kensington for sleeping

That is Shoreditch in London, kid.
Prices there per square foot are usually above £1500 per square foot. But say we used £1500 ($2,274) and that studio is 2300 square foot....£3,450,000 ($5,230,200.00).
Oh shit son, numbers you can't even count to!

That big empty room with brick wall views would cost you $5 million to buy.
I'm renting it just to put studio lights in and have somewhere to sleep when I have to be at the studio early in the mornings
7x the value of your only home and I'll probably only rest my head in it 4 times a month
The other 26 days I'll be at home in Kensington - the most expensive area on the entire planet
