Don't paint us all with that tar brush mate. Obviously the good ones stay home to avoid mixing/meeting the trash. If only they'd stay there :)

Ryoki wrote:Oh no guys, wasn't Ryoki on that plane?! Shit, let's get all worried and try to find out! No need you fucking cretins, though it was almost exactly my flight and i missed it by exactly a week. Exactly a week, mind - we flew at the same time as well. The journey home was on MH16, which caused a few chickenheaded people on board some stress. Not me though, i kept my cool by quite succesfully doing my best to remain unconcious for 13 hours straight. God i hate flying.

PS Bali is cool, but damn touristy. Everything is taken care of, makes for a good relax vacation but don't expect any adventures. Was fun, but wouldn't go again.

Bali is a cesspool of the lowest of the low. I hate the place and when I can't avoid being there I tell people I'm from New Zealand.

Fair enough then, you'd get a pretty fucking weird impression of Dutch, German and UK people if you'd pick the Costa del Sol as a vacation spot too. What i did like about Bali was how the cesspool bits could be easily avoided if you took a tiny bit of trouble.

But yeah, next vacation more action / freedom of movement / mindblowingly weird situations with locals please. We could have travelled around more but it was fucking Ramadan and i like a beer now and then, so yeah. Also i'm no fan of muslim culture in general i guess. Goddamn mosques waking you up at 04:00 from three directions at once (preferably using sound equipment from the time of Mohamed himself which distorts the sound quite horrifically) is about as much fun as say, a knee to the groin.

I was there at the same time, spent most of my time in Komodo National Park. Staying at places like this: http://kanawaislandresort.com

Looks very nice... we tried to go there at one point but got conflicted with another plan we had. Kinda think we should have done it now, but hindsight eh. We did manage to see some other islands that looked very similar though

You mean islands in Flores?

I mean the Gili islands, near Lombok. We spent a few days doing fuckall there except snorkeling and drinking cocktails before we got bored and moved on.

Ended up skipping Flores entirely, which is something i half regret now. Would have liked to see it but we were too fucked from the journy and coming down from work stress in the first week, too relaxed and not thinking about it in the second week and then in the third week it was ramadan end of test celebration and it was basically too late.

From what i read about Flores it was pretty hardcore too, sounded like the kind of thing you should go for from the beginning. Aside from the west coast it's basically all jungle, right? I wanted to climb that vulcano but it sounded tricky.

I haven't seen much of the mainland of Flores, I've only used it as the port to go out to the islands from Labuan Bajo.

I was on Gili Air for 5 nights, if you saw a tall, tanned and ruggedly handsome fellow who was thick, solid and tight in all the right places then that was me. Gilis are ok, I probably wouldn't go back there though.

Aye, wouldn't go back either. Nice, but if you've seen it you've seen it - and you've seen it pretty quickly.

Was on Gili Meno myself, if you saw a tall handsome fellow who was pretty much out of shape but well pleased with life in general then that was me.

I'm in the philippines this week taking my brother scuba diving; life is hard.

I mean not for me. But for some people it must be.
