Ivybride pretty much maintained the performance gap tho. They caught up slightly maybe ?. I forgot about piledriver n all, good to see its finally coming good. I seem to remember they were running at higher clocks ?

I remember 8 core bulldozers getting pushed by 6 core phenoms, they had a lot of catching up to do in the 1st place. :/

he's right. then again: i would not really save money at all. if you wan't a machine that's up to date you have to pay at least 1.2k €/$.

that's what i paid for my pc last year. it was not first tier but only second. but going first tier is in no way worth the extra 1k to 1.5k you end up paying. i'm still able to play most games at the highest settings (bioshock infinite was a bit stuttering at 100% so i turned it down to 90%).

Reckon I can get you a decent system for under half that GBP

I7s don't justify the extra cost imo and you won't / shouldn't need dual cards like. Should last you a while n all, got a core2duo and a 4850 from 2008 under the stairs that still plays BF3 in high settings (not max) at a decent framerate

That kind of set up would prolly come in closer to 700 bucks, maybe 600. Which is almost 1200 dollars

Wow, didn't know the pound was so awesome again.

nice website! you were pretty accurate.

here's something closer to what what i actually bought.

- allready had an os and mouse
- i did not get my ram for free (and i have 16GB)
- blu ray writer; have not used it once but who cares :smirk: hm... maybe i can get my parents some movies for me to watch when i'm there.
- baught a slightly better variant of the same graphics chip (less noise, better energy efficiency)
- and i bought a case that does not look like a 16 year old designed it - "storm enforcer" :olo:

I've got 4 SSD drives in my set-up running RAID. (2) SSD in RAID 0 Stripe running the OS and applications and another (2) SSD in RAID 0 Stripe running games. You get double the seek speed with twice the drive space. If the arrays ever get damaged I have a much larger drive doing scheduled back-ups of all the SSD drives. Super fast and simple.
