Gramps, you can google a review of any product you can imagine. And there's usually more than one review so you can get a better idea if the product is what you need and worth the money. There's also tonnes of reviews on YouTube and you can see the product in-action.

I manage on an 8 gig phone so 16 should be plenty if she's not filling it with pics or videos.

I think the bigger ones hold their resale value a bit more but if you plan on keeping it till it dies that's no worry.

The wife mentioned that she would like a tablet to replace the laptop that my son has recently commandeered. She wasn't opposed to getting a Microsoft or Android based tablet. But after playing with a few and considering she has an iPhone and iPod touch, she decided on the iPad. So for Christmas I got the wife a Gen 4, 16GB iPad. After further thought I was wondering if I made the right choice. She doesn't plan to do much of anything but surf the web and Facebook. Should I take the 16GB version back for something more or do you think it will suffice?

iPad itself was a good choice, I had an android tablet for a year my wife never liked it, she took over my iPad shortly after I got it. Browsing, shopping, email, netflix, a few games I was impressed how fast she took to it. 16GB should be good for the browsing and occasional games, but I'm currently running into an issue with storage. I'm switching all my magazine subscriptions over to digital and finding that most mags are 500MB each issue. so storage management is now an annoying chore.

4th gen is awesome don't get me wrong, if she is only ding email and browsing, based on my use I would trade it in if it was unopened for a 64GB iPad 2. Specs don't impress the wife it's all about usability.

He suggested the iPad 2 64. I bought the iPad 16, gen 4. He's suggesting I sacrifice the innovations for more storage. So who has "cheaped out"? He expressed his opinion based on how he uses his iPad and I appreciate that. I see how my wife used her current phone and lap-top. Based on my research and the additional info provided by GH, I still think the 16gb version will work out fine. I also didn't want to buy outdated technology.
