Re: Big F1 News! Hamilton moves...
Nico is a quality driver imo, Force India has been a bit up n down over the last 2 seasons n all, heard they're looking at Di Resta aswell and tbh, next to Perez, those are the drivers I'd be looking at
Also read that Massa could be staying ?, or it's what Ferrari want now that Perez has jumped to Hamiltons old seat ?, I read that as bollocks though.

lol, if Massa stays I'll shit a brick. I like the dude, but he's never been the same since that spring clocked him in the grape. Alonso really brought that into sharp relief, Massa's done.

Re: Big F1 News! Hamilton moves...
Alonso likes having him in the team as he is so far back. It makes him look even better than he already is (and despite what you think of the bloke, he is fucking good).
He didn't take well when he had a top driver as a team mate in Hamilton. Look at the other drivers he has partnered down the years; Marques, Trulli, Fisichella, Piquet Jr, Grosjean...hardly the cream of F1. Hamilton proved himself to be just as good, if not better than him in the same machinery. He wants someone below his level so he can have the car tailored to his specific wants and needs. If he has someone who is as quick as him thye will need to split the development of the car which will not be beneficial to him in the long run. In short, Massa would be his first choice of racing partner for next season.
Ferrari on the other hand want someone who is going to smash in more constructor points throughout the season, but also don’t want to rock the Alonso boat.

Never said Alonso wasn't a talented driver, he's won two championships. I just think he's a dickhead.
Yes, I'm familiar with how the "two bulls in the barn" thing works, I've been watching F1 since the mid-80s.

It wasn't a rant or a presumption of a lack of knowledge and understand of F1 on your part, it was merely my riposte as to why I think Massa will still be at Ferrari next season, despite him not being the driver he once was.
Re: Big F1 News! Hamilton moves...
Except I don't think Ferrari has ever had any qualms about saying "You're number 1" and "You're number 2"? They signed Alonso for the long haul so someone would have to be dominantly beating Alonso before they'd think of switching, assuming they'd even allow the number 2 to win like that.

I'd love to see The Hulk take Massa's seat, both he and DiResta have done a credible job in those curry-powered pieces of shit this season.

Pretty sure Di Resta comes straight from DTM also, which apparently isn't an obvious step, or an awkward one when jumping straight into an F1 car, so hoping he still has a bit of development to go and get better than he has been already with experience. I've always been interested in seeing the Hulk with a decent set of wheels under him n all, or maybe keep Massa for a season and get Kubica back ?

not bad considering this happened to him not long over a year ago ?

edit: apparently the bandage is to hide the real naughty shit n all, it's not for medical reasons :/

His muscles are accentuated by the scars
Re: Big F1 News! Hamilton moves...
aye those be some deep ass scars, had a fight to save his arm. This shows what happened pretty much and explains why you can see daylight from the otherside of the car when looking at the front -

and yep it is a pretty common accident if you hit one on the motorway, pro tip - aim at other drivers instead ;]

Schumacher has just announced his retirement, again.
Shame his comeback wasn't as good as it could have been, but fingers crossed he can get on the podium again before the season is out (unlikely)

I can appreciate the whole "get back on the horse" mentality, but FFS. I can't believe his managers let him drive in rallies again after that accident, especially if he's angling for a return to F1. But, tremendous respect to Kubica for getting right back in it...losCHUNK wrote:

Re: Big F1 News! Hamilton moves...
Was going to post the same, I don't think he ever should have come out of retirement, though. It's not like he embarrassed himself, and I think that's why he's opting to call it quits instead of taking a seat with a lower-tier team and flopping about for a few more seasons.Don Carlos wrote:Schumacher has just announced his retirement, again.

Farewell, sir, you'll always be a legend and there will never be another Schumi.

I sort of understand the mentality of conquering the thing that almost ended your career and you, but getting back into it as the first port of call?
He keeps saying “I am a long way off F1” but why not get hold of a Formula Renault/Ford/3000 car and see what you have in the way of movement/ability there? Less risk and surely far more informative for him given his end goal? Unless there is more fear in finding out he definitely can’t race an F1 car again than getting back into a rally car?
Like you said, huge respect to him but he and his management are bat shit crazy as far as I am concerned.
Re: Big F1 News! Hamilton moves...
He did say that his next step is to try a track car, GT series maybe, but he did go on to say that he's not ready for single seaters yet, let alone F1 cars because he's still got 'limitations'. The car he drove in the rally was modified for him n all, I know he had to get all the gear controls moved through one paddle :/. The rally was only a provincial event aswell, so looks like he's taking baby steps, he's just been insistent that he wants to continue with motorsport in any capacity, he knows he's not guaranteed another place in an F1 car but that's obviously his goal like, in the meantime he's just always said that he wants to get behind a wheel so he can start building and working with his skills again because he feels like that's what he needs to do to rehabilitate and get back to his best.
I personally hope he's not trying too much too quick, in that event I heard he had 2 accidents, or maybe an event after ?, anyway, If it is just his arm affecting him, then there are people who race in these events that have a lot more issues than him so can't really see it as a problem ?, big respect to the guy imo and doubt he would be doing this if he wasn't confident in his abilities or the rally would endorse it if doctors disagreed.
I can see a rather bald manager however

Re: Big F1 News! Hamilton moves...
Ahhhh I see I was unaware it was a modified car etc. Makes slightly more sense now, though having your arm smashed around in a rally car still doesn't seem like the smartest of ideas to me, where as a modified GT car on a smooth circuit would better represent the stresses his arm will endure. Unless he is just giving it a battering so he knows he can take it?
Re: Big F1 News! Hamilton moves...
I think he's just a bit like Kimi and Hakinnen in that reguard, I think he just prefers the rally events, could really be as simple as Subaru stumping up the cash for a modded car though

Re: Big F1 News! Hamilton moves...
Yawn @ Schumi. He should've never come back. I hope he retires for good this time.
At this point, the driver's title is pretty much Alonso's to lose. I'm still not sold on Perez. I think the most impressive driver so far this year has to be Raikkonen. If I were Whitmarsh, I'd try to poach Raikkonen from Lotus (although Kimi probably doesn't want to go back to his old team). I would love to see Raikkonen in the Red Bull or back in the Ferrari next year, but I know there's no chance of that happening.
Rumor has it that The Hulk has already signed with Ferrari to replace Massa. There's also a rumor that Alguersuari will be back in F1 with Sauber next year.
Good to see that Kubica has started his comeback and doing pretty well, although I read that the nerves in his right hand still have not healed or recovered to a point where he can operate the paddles and switches on an F1 steering wheel fast enough with his fingers. I heard that Pirelli does have plans to give him some testing opportunities in an F1 car in the near future.
I will be going down to Austin in a little more than a month now for the USGP; can't wait
I’m also looking forward to the GP of America next June. I hope Bernie cuts all his BS and make it happen.
