I've bungeejumped too once, was indeed very scary but the happy feeling of still being alive when it's over was worth it. Not sure that i'd do it again though, especially not in France as the instructors were a bit too crazy: "Oui mon ami, we secure ze bungy ere you see, now you jump. Wait, how heavy are you? Oh? Well, we just use this one, we don't want to switch the rope, too much trouble. No worry, it only breaks sometimes, haha! Alors, down with you. *push*"

Also, the father of my girlfriend is a skydiving instructor and i fear i shall soon have to pass what he sees as the definitive test of masculinity. Should be fun, always wanted to try that.

Sure, you can eventually overcome a fear by rational consideration, but it's not always that easy to do. A person isn't at fault or beyond rational reason for being afraid of climbing a tower while not being afraid of riding a rollercoaster or flying in a plane.

All I'm trying to say that implying that someone shouldn't be afraid of tower climbing if you aren't afraid of rollercoasters either is a grave misunderstanding.
this based on the false sense of your average moron....sure fine, I get that. Hence my original post about me not having an irrational fear of heights.

Just to throw Tsakali off his feet, I'll state that I think I would find bungeejumping much scarier than skydiving. I've done neither, mind you, so I may judge this the wrong way, but somehow I think that jumping out of a plane at such an altitude is far more surreal than jumping off a bridge. The immediacy of the danger seems further away, I dunno.

Perhaps it's a bit like how it's much less scary to play my guitar in front of 100 people than it is to play in front of 5 people, because the latter is so much more personal and up close. With 100 people it's a mass of people rather than individuals.

oh yeah here's the thread: http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewto ... 5&p=840269

and it was actually YourGrampa who did it: http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewto ... =1&t=42962
Yeah, that second video I posted is old, although apparently some haven't seen it, so it's worth posting again.

Tsakali, I didn't realize you were such a man's man. <3

apart from the parachutes they're wearing of course :dork:
they're ukrainian, and they're only wearing school bags
oh yeah, cos it's common for school bags to have big metal rings on the top left & right shoulders, with a yellow pull-tab hanging from the bottom left :dork:
