Yeah the secrecy around ACTA is disturbing and completely undemocratic.

Polish to the rescue!
ACTA's EU future in doubt after Polish pause
The chances of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement becoming law in Europe dwindled suddenly on Friday, after Polish prime minister Donald Tusk said he was suspending ACTA's ratification in his country.

Maddox is writing some interesting stuff on this. I know the guy is a certified 100% asshole (and he's pretty good at it) but he actually makes some fairly sound arguments here. His idea of boycotting companies/congressmen who support SOPA seems like the only real way this shit might go away.

Also, if for some reason you've been living under a rock for the last 10 years, go check out the rest of his articles, they are usually pretty fuckin' funny!

yeah but is this the end of ACTA or just a stay of inter-execution?

also, since it was possible for cameron to veto the lisbon treaty amendment last year without preventing other EU countries from going ahead and doing what they wanted anyway, what's to stop those countries that have already ratified ACTA from just going ahead with it in some other form?

i'd like to be optimistic on this 'internet' stuff. I think this is a fight that money can't win. Internet is the ultimate gorilla warfare setting.

I contacted my congressmen about this on the blackout day. I'm glad the bill is dead now.

Only a pompous crowd like the Brits could have devised such an unnecessarily nebulous language. How this testosterone drenched drivel made it as the 'international' language is beyond me.

there's no such thing as a flawed language, only a flawed usage of that language

spelling, for example
