Discussion: Q3W LEM competitions
Re: Discussion: Q3W LEM competitions
Actually... having the same map with different layouts would prove or debunk that entire "gameplay" mythology *cough*

Eraser's idea is great. To remix existing map and allow some gameplay alterations.
Re: Discussion: Q3W LEM competitions
I'd rather see the contest creating one layout and then having to dress it up nicely, instead of changing an already existing map, unless that's what you meant.

Re: Discussion: Q3W LEM competitions
My remix idea could also be applied to everyone remixing different maps, but that would be hard to judge I guess

Based off Eraser's idea, I think it could also be cool to let mappers take one of their older, preferably large DM / CTF maps, and reduce it so it only revolves around one central room, similar to Seams and Bolts from QL being based off Senn's "Shaken Not Stirred", or the arenas in On-X's "Captured Arena". You could for example take the flag room of a CTF map you made and then base your map off that as a small DM / CA map. Even though they'd be based off already-made maps, the gameplay results would be vastly different. And of course the visual themes could also be re-done as well.
