Yes, it is true.
Copyright is a global agenda.
And it was not born in the times of the internet but long before. So, you may want to rethink your original standing.
I'm not a friend of this policy, nor am I an enemy. It is as it is, a law. Just pointing that out.
Cudos to MJ's work and respect the " shareholders' " interests, that's all I have to say.

I agree with you, I would only put songs that I would have created, but then again I don't compose..

I'm in Canada and I follow a lot of the reform that our conservative government is gonna push regarding copyright and I don't like what is coming because they listen a lot to the american record industry... Scary...

I don't have a clue about Canada, never been there. Don't know your history very well.
But let's turn the pike around:
German gvnmt. suddenly legalizes to pirate songs and albums from "Fucked Up" or "Parts And Labor", canadian bands. Does that sound cool?
I am not a musical artist (no more), but I respect ownership in a way that seems to have been outdated. So, well, I don't really know what to answer to your last post.

This topic is going out of range.. :P

I've studied as a sound technician and believe me, I heard/learned a lot of things about music copyright, one of my teacher was at that time the president of the canadian society that represent composer's right. I do know that in Canada you can use a part of a song - sampling without charge if there is no money making involved and other obscure requirements, I think that the duration was like 12 secs max, I can't remember exactly, it 13 years ago that I had this class.

About German gvnmt, I wouldn't give a damn honestly. Look at the swedish, they have a political party for pushing legalized file sharing (The pirate Party) and that's where the piratebay.org is coming from. If I remember correctly isohunt is hosted in Canada, but I think it's gonna need to move soon because our govmnt here is pushing for some copyright's law that are almost identical from the usa. In Canada too, a Pirate Party was formed recently, it was in some way to bring attention to the copyright's reform that is going on here and that will make it possible for copyright's holder to bring to court individual people because they shared some bruceSpringStrong.mp3 over a p2p network. Let's go wild after the small people, but I think that they should go after the people that sell copied stuff on the black market instead.
