Democratic revolution?
Know what that means? They sure as shit aren't a sign of secularity or moderation, that's for sure.

Shit is really real now, massive clashes between pro and anti mubarak crowds around the square.

Have the Americans finally given an official stance on the matter which doesn't equate to "well.... you know.... hmmm... kind of like.... things.... right?"

Not really, still hedging their bets. Think they hoped that Mubarak not running for another term would calm everyone down and lead to an orderly transition, which is a very naive misreading of both Mubarak and the protesters. Not that either side in Egypt really cares about the US position, the protesters see them as supporting the regime and the regime sees them as supporting the protesters.
The $1.5 billion of annual aid hasn't been used as leverage yet, but even that won't have much of an effect i think.

Don't know about "we", but Obama sure seems to give a shit, given the numerous speeches he's giving.
Don't think I've seen a US prez give more speeches about the situation in a country the US wasn't at war with than now

But he's not even claiming the spotlight that much imo. Every interview or statement i've seen he's been quite timid about his role. It's just that we in the rest of the world know him from his previous career, he's one of the few Egyptians with a famous name and easy access to the international media - aside from the president and maybe that old mummy fondler dude from national geographic.
And he does have some support, not none at all... as for legitimacy, why even bring that into it..? Obviously noone has legitimacy as a leader until they hold fair & free elections.

Shits going down... lots of violence, reports of assaults and threats to reporters. Looks like there is a bunch of fear-mongering about foreign spies. Violent mobs are patrolling around the square.
