i read a news story today that covered the leakage of Tiger early. i'm still debating purchasing it (student discount, of course) since i've not really used my Powerbook for a while. i've got Panther on it now. i'm thinking that it would probably actually slow my Powerbook G4 down installing that on it.

looks very cool, btw.
It runs faster than Panther on a 1ghz PB 12", worth the upgrade for the speed boost alone, just don't expect loads of goodies, more like updates to existing software (Safari/Mail etc) and lots of under-the-hood tweaks (coreimage/coreaudio etc).
According to Activity Monitor the widgets only use cpu when you open dashboard (f12) and things like the weather are only updated when dashboard is open, so they're not updating in the background all the time and opening dashboard is only the same sort of cpu overhead that expose has.
The speed boost is a big seller for me, I always use OS 9 for Photoshop cause it's just so much faster. OS X is pretty pokey, that's the only thing that bugs me about it.

I’ve installed it on my iT book, eMac, iMac and G5 and I’ve seen a sizable seen increase in all of them. oh, and they've removed stuffit
