Mercenary or its sequel Damocles maybe?
Possibly Skyranger, but I don't think that had vector graphics.
There were also a couple of fully polygonal games on the speccy too, Driller and Total Eclipse, but they were measured in seconds-per-frame

I played Dungeon Master too, but never really think of it as a first person shooter. Still one of my all-time favourites, and I've actually been playing it again recently thanks too
Dungeon Master Encyclopaedia.
It serves as a reminder that games back then were a LOT harder than they are now.
It wasn't any of those three, but you've reminded me of a few more details. I remember fighting some humanoid monsters with long necks and dog/deer-like snouts. There were lots of ladders leading further down/up the dungeon, and I remember now that it definitely wasn't 3-D even in the fake sense like Wolfenstein 3D was. I would press up on the keyboard and move forward a square, left would turn me 90 degrees, etc. I wish I could remember more, I want to play it again!

Oh man I remember Heretic, I beleive it was one of the only fps games you could play 4 players at once on the console that was a fun one.
I forgot Wolf 3D, but Heretic and Doom 2 on PC were my first and biggest gaming obsessions. I played the Heretic shareware version thousands of times until my brother got me the full version with all 5 episodes. Good times

First true FPS must've been Wolf3D for me,
probably followed by Doom, Duke Nukem, Heretic, Quake, Hexen, etc...
The earliest game with "first person POV" was probably Bard's Tale or a space combat game for Atari 2600 whose name escapes me for the moment.
There were probably some shitty game on a Tiger handheld as well, but I wouldn't remember any without hypnosis.

Map editor and Invincibility
Press Right, Up, Down, Square. Press Start and select "Use Map Editor" option to begin editing the current level. Press Start to return to game mode with all changes in place. (Note: The camera is adjustable in edit mode. Press Select for First-person view, Up and Down to zoom in and out, L1 and L2 to look up and down.)
..but i'm pretty sure you couldn't save any of it.

First one on a computer was Quake. Watched a friend play Doom, but never did myself but for five minutes or so.
Am currently playing through Blood for the first time.

Meh, one of the two

Who could forget Rise of the Triads
I started on an Atari I recall playing that tank simulator Battlezone...
But for true fps it must have been Wolfenstien/Doom.

Wolfenstein 3D, although the game that probably made the biggest impression at the time was Star Wars Dark Forces.

as actual shooter, Wolf3D.
as first firstperson game,I think DungeonMaster on the atariST. ownage back then and still a solid rpg in this day and age.
or perhaps that old starwars game, with the vectors. pretty terrible
