I'm not convinced Coldplay stole the song, but they do sound alike. I'll put my money on it being coincidence. Satch will have a hard time proving there's blatant stealing involved here.

Heh, that is too close to be coincidence imo. Whether he wins his case or not is debatable though. It might just be that one of the members of coldplay actually does listen to satriani and used the melody thinking that noone would recognise it as a satriani creation since most coldplay fans probably wouldn't have heard of him. Or maybe he forgot where he heard it when it popped into his head so he just went ahead and used it.
