I don't have any kids, but I do have extensive experience in beating them. Anyways, I just came into this thread to say that the reason FF says Jedi is spelled incorrectly is because it's supposed to be capitalized.

Oh, and sleeping with your kids is weird. Don't do that.

Yeah me and my girlfriend both decided it's best if the baby sleeps in his crib. He's 8 months old, so far so good :) We read up about this too and there were a lot of reasons co-sleeping with us was a bad idea. I guess it's common for kids to suffocate accidentaly from a parent rolling on them while sleeping. Plus it promotes a lot of dependance on that routine to get to sleep at a later age.

Right now our 8 month old goes to sleep around 8pm and sleeps typicly till 7:30, he's teething right now so I've seen him wake up at 6:30 many times but I've also seen him sleep till 9.

Just wait till he starts crawling.

:olo: if I had to make a judgment off those few youtubes, your kid seems pretty well-adjusted, actually Geoff. Must have an exceptional mom. :)

Hey Peenyuh I bet you smoked around your kids all the time right?

The only time I ever smoked in the house was when it was extremely ventilated. drugs and violence were prohibited around my children. AND, despite my personal opinion of people in general, I taught my children the importance of Love, Responsibility, and Compassion for the World around them. In case you did not see any humor in my flippant remark, I will say this. Geoff seems to be an intelligent and caring Father. He has a knack for actual humor and possesses a good heart as well.

I'm actually expecting a baby in Sept, and the woman who is teaching our birthing classes investigates infant mortality, and has directly linked two deaths to that book and it's teachings.

Be careful with some of the ideas presented in there GH, the guy who wrote it isn't a doctor and hasn't turned out to be all that great a guy.

She pointed out this site as a place to get more info on that book and it's teachings:

:olo:I started reading unitll I got to "Christian leaders" I have no faith when religion meets medicine.

Not mocking your post, but I followed the finer points in that book on care and use it as a guideline. Especially the section on family time and how my wife an I act around her. We of course would never do anything to jeopardize our baby's health based on what a book says.

There are great points on how to base your routine and get great results. Our baby eats when she's hungry witch is every 3 hours and in between she is either playing, observing us, or sleeping. that includes when we go to the mall or out to eat. She's been sleeping through the night for many weeks now.

After reading the book I really couldn't find anything that would be unsafe or unhealthy like most of the other strict baby books out there. Have you had a chance to read the book yet or are you going to dismiss based on the site?

EDIT:

I read their arguments and can't see how the book can be misconstrued this grossly,in all seriousness unless you add words into the book there is no way you can come up with these arguments posted. One of the reasons we liked this book was it's flexibility and how in almost every chaper it talks about strying from the schedule whenever your child needs to .

Maybe there will come a time when you can ask them yerself. Anything is possible in this life. One thing I know is that you don't end up with intelligent, creative, beautiful and articulate adults - which my children are - if you beat them or abuse them in any way.I know I had a rather large part in who my children are today, and I consider that to be my defining accomplishment as a Human being. They have surpassed everything I could have ever wanted in my children and they still have a lifetime to become so much more. If there's any hope for this world, it is in the hands of people like my and Geoff's children.

In conclusion, HM-PuFFNPoLE, you may commence to eat my shorts at any moment. :D
