That's the only thing anyone ever notices in that shot. I think we must all be gay.

Its not often you see nipples in games these days... But now that i see that one, its obvious why... Because nobody can draw a good looking nipple. That one just looks like a bump...
Nice flares from no lights either, lol.

I liked HL2... Sure, it wasn't pretty with the latest shits and giggles, but it played well.
Oh, and the gravity gun owns the fuck out of the ROE one, ANYDAY. Anybody that says otherwise is just a fucking retard.
"Hey bill, let me shoot this can i just picked up at you with my grav... Oh shit hold on, i ran out of time..."

I think it's possibly the most protruberant nipple in any video game ever. Bump-mapped and self-shadowing!

Models in doom don't self shadow, nore in Quake 4

Aye, and most of them have that. The problem is with the polycount, because its so low, models tend to look quite odd when the yself shadow. Things like odd triangles appear etc etc.
Although, have you seen them with self shadowing? I'm glad they disabled it.
Riddick has it on and it looks great, although riddick has higher poly models. (Better in general, if you ask me. What a fantastic game that was.)

Self Shadow off (default)
Self Shadow On (Doesn't look to bad on the player model, high polyount compared to an imp, about 4x as high)
Looks quite bad and has many glitches on hands

I seriously don't understand why anyone using the doom3 engine insists on giving all of the characters individual fingers and TOES ferchrissakes, but still makes the head out of 3 polygons. Given that, with no freaking lights, all you ever see is a silhouette of the head.

Hey, the hands are better than doom. In doom ,you get 3 fingers. A thumb, an index finger and a lump of 3 fingers all modeled together. Looks shite.
And yeah, i find it crazy how they can spare polies in some areas, but not in a rounder head.
The player is around 4k polies in doom 3, yet the hellknight, something twice the wize and with a lot of curvey detail, is around 2k polies... eh?

If you made it past a few levels in the game you may of noticed that you dont have to kill ANY bugs again... They are on your side.

Actually, the plot of quake3 almost made me miss out on the whole thing. I buggered off and played unreal tournament for a bit, until I realised that even though the graphics and setting of quake 3 sucked, the netcode and deathmatch were pure quality.

yeah I'm not saying that there isn't a good reason we disable it
I just wanted to clarify that it's not a limitation of the engine

Oh yeah, its not a limitation of the engine, just some things look better with things disabled. This is one of them. Although i'll have to test what an imp looks like with it off/on as that only has just over 1k polies.

HL2 owned for SP.. sorry but Doom3 was shallow and boring.. at least HL2 had some substance..

That self-shadowing makes the D3 model looks infinitely better than without.
Shame it might look crap in motion.

It doesn't, thats the point.
However, it DOES for the view model.
So, instead of just having it on world models, id put it off on everything...
