so, your gf is going to check if she has to shave for work. nice.
also, much like NS, my job doesnt require me to (its not like they can prevent you from growing a moustache is it), but it bugs me if I don't

Having a beard or mustache is usually not forbidden in most jobs (law enforement some times have rules against beards) but the process of growing it usually is.
You need to not have that stubble look, rather you grow it on your time off and then show up at work with a clean trim beard or mustache.
I work with one guy who always has to grow a beard and/or mustache in advance of him going home to Indonesia because he is Christian and in some places he has to go to he runs the risk of being killed by Muslim rebels for not looking Muslim. He also makes sure all his photo ID does not show him clean shaven.

I have permanent stubble with a goatee or a bit of a beard all the time at work. I shave once a week except the goatee. Sometimes I'll shave with a blade down to the skin, other times I just use a trimmer and cut everything down to stubble and then just let it go during the week. I shave my neck every day though (not the back, the front.)

Yep, I'm working for IBM right now and that's what they expect. I however tend to stay out of that mold. I have stuble most day's and do not wear shirt and ties. It's jeans and stylish shirts for me. So far no ones ever said anything to me and they're training me on everything they can as fast as they can so I guess it's not hurting me.

this is probably taken out of context. All these "company policies" just want to encourage
well groomed individuals. If one is to have a beard, I'm sure it's ok as long as the rest of him doesn't look like a caveman.

as long as the beard is part of a style and not a result of something else for instance

I work in IT and nobody has a problem with my beard. I keep it well-trimmed though, and I think that's really the point.

My current company is fine, I have not cut my hair for nearly 2 years, and have a full beard - but I do have a beard trimmer to keep it nice and tidy.
The only comment I have received is when my hair was long, but not long enough to tie back, I was asked why I was not cutting my hair, to which I replied that I was growing it.
My previous job however was gay, I could get away with a goatee, but they told me to shave when I had a full beard, even though it was tidy.

That is a bit fucking strict, I got so annoyed with that shit in my last job.
If it isn't the military, then I don't see the point in that shit, long hair that is tied back, and a trimmed beard can look totally fucking respectable - grow a beard and your hair, then tell the cunt you that if it is good enough for jesus, then it's good enough for his company.

Yeah, it's basically because the president of the company is an old cunt who probably thinks women shouldn't vote. We're always supposed to look prim and classically good looking, etc. I think we fire fat/ugly people as well.

I shave most days during the week, occasionally skipping out on Friday. I usually grow a goatee in the fall and shave it off before spring.
