I never gave mac much of a chance but I have to say their style owns,...imo apple designers should regulate all forms of aesthetic design in our everyday life.
upscales what? the resolution is 1920x1200 and you can see every compression artefact of DivX/DVD and even HD movie.....it's that clear.MKJ wrote:i heard the 24" imac screens upscale, and it shows.
but thats just what ive heard from the resident applefreak
Grudge wrote:I play computer games so a Mac at home is pretty much out of the question. I could use one at work (I did a couple of years ago), but this company uses 99% PC right now and a transition to Mac would be ridiculously expensive and quite pointless.
I do have an Apple keyboard though.
That's a pretty big freakin reason to stick with PC's at your company then. I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually, but the lost productivity costs would be pretty big. They'll probably be stumped when they can't find the ALT key.Grudge wrote:plus the tech support team only know PC.
ordered. thanks man!saturn wrote:thx mate....the keyboard on the left is a Logitech Ultra X keyboard. The finest keyboard I ever used...slightly better than the Mac keyboard. Great tactile input, sturdy no-nonsense, ultra-flat, dirt-cheap
I bought it for 20 euros, you can get it at newegg.com for 19 bucks: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6823126022
Quicksilver's quite awesome. Been using it ever since you praised it quite some time ago.saturn wrote:Yeah, it took me two weeks to get used to the UI. Mainly cause you have to let go of the Windows interface dogma.PhoeniX wrote:I have the same problems when I use one. Maybe it's because I know all the shortcuts on Windows, but it just seems to take twice as long for me to get somewhere or do something on one.
I'm using Quicksilver on the Mac, some sort of keyboard shortcut orientated launcher/macro/everything program. Saves me lots of time navigating for the right stuff.
I thought Bootcamp no longer worked with leopard or are you still using tiger? Sadly, work only budgeted for the 20" iMacs, but they're going to have Parallels to dual boot WinXP.saturn wrote:What kind of company do you work for? I'd like Macs at my work in the hospitals, but I'd figure that they would get stolen all the time and people would waste time with the built-in iSight webcam making crazy faces.
P.S. You could use Bootcamp for a dualboot system (I'm pondering about it)
still works 100% on mine. i'm still running 10.4.11Dave wrote:Bootcamp works on Leopard only. An update or sommat broke the bootcamp beta on Tiger.
then quit fucking up your typing.andyman wrote:I'd order one as well if the backspace key wasn't so small. Oh well...
have fun with it+JuggerNaut+ wrote: ordered. thanks man!
Arcor, the developer is slowing down the coding and development. He has released it as open source and some people have started cleaning up the code. Apparently there are hundreds of bugs and faulty code lines inside. Other people are lining up to get a developers group for Quicksilver. I couldn't live without it anymore, it's the first thing I installed on the iMac. I do 90% of my stuff with three keystrokes. Keep an eye on it elkdriver.kel wrote: Quicksilver's quite awesome. It's a large patch of metal with a leather coating that follows the curve of my desk. It's for my writings with pens and pencils (analogue stuff).obsidian wrote:Can't tell by the pic, but the left side of your desk looks like it's made of stitched leather. Is it as awesome as I think it looks?
Tiger on the laptop and Leopard on the iMac.Sanction wrote:I thought Bootcamp no longer worked with leopard or are you still using tiger?
