When I go to click on a maplist title it just ends up opening a list's information about itself that who ever made the list typed in, but it isn't opening the actual list up.
Nice work also! Way different then what I expected that you'd do.
Yeah..and my list is quite big I know. :D It took me a couple hours to do. I can pretty much guarantee that those maps are nearly the best on the whole site, though I know that I've probably missed quite a bit more. The others will end up getting filtered in over time.
I've had a couple more problems with that timelime bar at the bottom also, getting the part on the top of it locked on the window, while it was actually dropped..plus it rips part of the page in the process. It happened mostly on the Mappers Names Pages. I'd probably have to do a screenshot of it and send it to you if you don't know what I'm talking about..I swear sometimes that it might have been a good idea to put a forum on the site also. I don't know how useful it'd be though.

v1l3 wrote:I finally finished up "my maps" section and I went public with it, but the link is dead when you click on the different one's, also with foralarx's and yours.
where is this list you speak of?

considering being registered(not sure if things are different otherwise)..

Go to the top right side on the page, and hold your pointer over "Browse". It pops up different choices..click on "My Maps". Right now there are 16 of them. Mine is named "The Best and the most popular maps". Not to be an ass to the others, but realistically, mine is the one to use since I pretty much covered all of the maps worth downloading. hell..even your maps are in there :D

Sometimes my browser gets stuck scrolling through the map groups in the time line section (every time somewhere between 2001 and 2003); Opera actually doesn't get stuck as you would expect but it continues to show the loading bar forever like there is at least one map which can't be displayed correctly or god knows what might cause that problem. Well, god and Tigger I suppose.
I'm not sure if a forum is that necessary but at least there seem to be enough people visiting that site to bring some life in a theoretical forum: I've checked a few maps for about half an hour and only during that time there were 5 maps downloaded! Quite amazing. And THANK YOU for having the download section for free WITHOUT A NEED TO REGISTER! THANKS!

At 1st I didn't like the new site because it lost its friendly accessbility in terms of massive downloading.
But as time passes or as I struggle with the new UI, I really come to like it than ever before.
Especially video preview feature is fantastic!
I think even casual visitors can enjoy the site w/o d/l actual files.
I hope more and more maps provide video previews. :)

Q:
Is it a site admin who is creating videoes one by one or an each mapper?

Who bumped this thread :]

redfella: Try the main nav at the top: 'Browse' -> 'My Maps' (as v1l3 said)

monaster: There are some 'minor' issues with IE (6 and 7) and the timeline from memory. I'm guessing you have not upgraded to Firefox yet.

a13n: Try the 'Browse' -> 'Years' option. This is a lot closer to the old style site, but still has a the newer features. As to the videos, yep, thats me playing. They take time to make, but I'm trying to make vids for all new maps (with bot files). When I get time I add them for the older maps.

The panoramas however are much quicker. I'll be adding more of them too in the future.

When I try to play a vid, Firefox crashes with a Quicktime "illegal operation". Any ideas? Nothing auto-updates via the auto-updater...

Oh I have "upgraded" my browser indeed but I just forgot to write what browser I'm actually using, sorry for that. It's Opera! I NEVER used Microsoft's crap (at least not any more since I discovered Opera and I can't remember anything before that day) and Firefox in my eyes is controlling a bit too much what I'm doing since 3.0 with basic settings. Don't know if you have any experience with Opera though but it's where the problem appears.

pjw: There is a known crash bug with Quicktime 7.1 and Firefox (2). Firefox 3 even disables some Quicktime plugins if a known bug version is used. Check which version you have by typing 'about:plugins' (no quotes) into the address bar of Firefox.

monaster: Ahhh.. an Opera user. Just tried it out and I think I can see the issue. I'll have a go at fixing it. Also, you may be interested in the ..::LvL Opera Widget. You can find it on the Opera Widget site, or on ..::LvL under Site -> Widgets

Thank you for the tip. :)
Still and all the bottom section is occupying a lot of space in height if I may say so.
It would be really appreciated if it could be hidden by preference.

It can be hidden a number of ways.
* Press Ctrl+Z to toggle it (this is in the F.A.Q. section, under shortcuts)
* Click on the top middle of the bar, just above the '2004'.

If you have cookies enabled, on your next visit the timeline will be hidden once the page loads.
