A few games pop up in mind

1. Q3 (sonic1.wav, fla22k_02.wav)
2. UT99 (bgm of deck16)
3. UT2004 (KR-Rankin.ogg)

What are really good might be the levels which use these music as bgm. <3

Forgot about warcraft. The FX in that game were top notch too.

I'm gonna have to post a few. Music is something that is different to everybody, so Jimmy could like "Insert best game here". but Timmy could like "The music that came with his casio game watch 15 years ago". Its all subjective.

A few of my faves that I like:

Final Fantasy VII
Halo
Mario World
Super Metroid
Mario 64
Metal Gear Solid Series
Riddick :EfBB
Original Half Life
Gears Of War (That last train ride= perfection)
Resident Evil series (Had a few nice ones, like RE2)
The Legend Of Zelda (Drop the fakeness, go full on real already Nintendo)
Quake 2 (AWESOME music)
Donkey Kong Country 1/2/3 (I still hum the damn tunes every time I play them, catchy)

To name but a few :p

Hell yeah, Uematsu is the man.
I have some CDs of his stuff. Got my gf hooked on his music before she ever played any FF. She's even transcribed some of his piano stuff.
It's cool hearing from a musician how good they think his music is.

Quake II
MGS (1998, not the remake for Gamecube)
Super Metroid
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy Tactics
some of Chrono Trigger

As for really, REALLY pro writing --

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, Nagrand zone at night.
This line only remake is total rubbish I've ever seen!!! Fuck off!!! --CZghost

Anyone here ever played a PS2 game called Onimusha? I just flicked through the latest guiness book of records. In the video game section it says largest orchestra ever assembled for a video game soundtrack is 203 musicians. 150 of the new japanese philharmonic orchestra, plus 53 separate musicians and vocalists. For a computer game that's a fuck of a lot, huh?

You can hear samples here. Some of it is pretty nice.
