New Lara Croft : 'Legend'
Wel apart from a few die hard fans like me, I reckon the majority of sales are kids who just want to control a slut.denzii wrote:Well the Tomb Raider Series must be doing good, their sales on the game are Usually much better than any other game. They made two movies about the series. Apparently it's very popular.

And not some game character.

I'm really looking forward to this.
When I got the first game I think I played it for around 30+ hours straight.
I think the first one is still my all time favorite.
The second one was probably the best one overall.
And it's good that they are bringing someone back from the first game to help them out.
Can't fucking wait.

What the fuck are you talking about?rep wrote:So this is all the XBOX2 and PS3 can handle? Count me out.
Console upgrades are just for graphics. They've got 5.1, HD-out, broadband play, and all that shit already. XBOX2 and PS3 are just graphics upgrades and they're giving us something that looks like FMV models from old PlayStation game.
Why are they so afraid to use a realistic style? Changing the look of a series doesn't always hurt it. DOOM 64 is the most beautiful DOOM game, for example. The worst that could happen is for it to flop like the digitized Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game. Mortal Kombat for example went 3D with Mortal Kombat 4, and though the series was already on the rocks because of the idiocy of making "ULTIMATE" MK3, a game so "ULTIMATE" that the original MK3 was better in everyone's books... Anyway, when it changed it's looks to 3D it didn't catch on at first but when MK5 came, holy shit everyone loved it.
I was impressed with the last round of James Bond games that used actual actors. The same goes for Onimusha 3, although using something like five actual people and the rest are generic CG looking ninjas is still trash.
Just take Ms. Lohan and digitize her and upgrade her to look as she will when she's 25. That's about the age I put Lara around, not too old, but certainly not a teenager. I know her backstory is that she's the daughter of some rich fuck, but I don't buy that a 17 year old would be doing Dr. Henry Jones Jr. type shit.
Also: Idiot game developers, go outside. Women aren't required to wear these sort of clothes to be hot. The magic in sexuality and beauty is not seeing the tit, but wanting to see the tit.
I loved the first two TR games, and kind of liked the last revelation for Dreamcast. But the rest did suck. But the first two were the very best. I loved the music, enviornments, and overall feel of the ancient exploration. So Im very excited about this new one, since they said they are going back to her roots, with more of the explore and solve aspect. Tomb Raider is about exploration in ancient places, not running around in some stupid modern city. Keep it like the first two, and they will have a winner.
Heh, I remember the first time I came upon the T-rex in the first TR. Scared the hell outta me. As I said before, the music owned. Man when was that? 1995? Ahhh the good ol days.

I revived this old thread because there's some new trailers and screenshots of Legend, which is due out this winter, ( 'fall' to you americans). Oh and I finished angel of darkness today, having played it on and off since last year. Great game, even with all the bugs.
I think from seeing the way lara moves in the trailer, the controls look to be smoother this time around.
Best one to see is this, 73mb, ingame action, not cutscene:
