Saw this movie yesterday. Michael Bay is a great Director, prolly the best, coupled with Steven Spielberg and out comes a fantastic movie.

When the movie was over everyone was clapping.

The special effects in this movie is so real that you really think it's real. Unless ofcourse it was real then we are all in a world of hurt.

Movie blew me away and lived up to every single one of my expectations.

Only people that'll hate it are the virgins that value every insignificant detail from the TV series.

In other news, it got a 1/5 rating in our biggest newspaper, and reading the reviews at Metacritic it looks like it's a love it or hate it situation.

I suppose if you're not into action movies then this movie is not for you. Perhaps a good musical can make you feel good.

I do like action movies, but Michael Bay, come on?

The Rock was good, and Armageddon was entertaining, but he's just been making the same movie over and over again since then. That over-the-top, super saturated "wall of visuals" style was interesting the first couple of times but now it's getting a bit stale. Repeating the same formula over and over again isn't really the mark of a good director IMO.

Ok? So what Director would you say is the best?
I also saw the making of Transformers and I can prolly make a better judgement on the subject because Michael pushes his actors to do things that they thought that they would never do. After watching both the making of and the movie I can see what they were talking about. The Rock and Armageddon were good movies but doesn't compare to this movie in anyway.

The best action director? Hard to say, but how about Ridley Scott or James Cameron? Or maybe Paul Verhoeven? Then there are Stanley Kubrick, Tim Burton and Oliver Stone, who while not being "action directors" pisses all over Michael Bay any day of the week. Then there are the Cohen brothers, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan etc. etc. Should I continue?

But sure, I'll probably be seeing Transformers this week and then I'll get back to you. Who knows, maybe he's performed some kind of miracle on this one.

ooo I like Ridley Scott, he did a great job in the Gladiator. So on that point I would have to agree with you. Agreed that some of the other directors aren't considered action directors but they are great in their movie making. Michael Bay did hit this one on the nose. So after you see this movie then I will read your review.

Maybe it is a love-it-or-hate-it film. But I can't help but think that any non-anal original transformers fan would love it.

As long as you can accept that things have to be changed to bring the movie up to date, you shouldn't have much to nitpick about.

It's true that not all of the bots take the same form as they did in the original, but I thought they were changed in a good way. i.e., it would have looked pretty stupid to have Megatron be some kind of levitating gun that can be held by other bots, and then transform to a standing bot as big as they are.

But at one point in battle, Megatron claps his hands together and his arms combine to make a massive gun barrel. Very awesome I thought, but it was only shown briefly.

i didnt love it or hate it. i thought it was decent, but it could have been a lot better.

the things i didnt like weren't because i'm anal or anything. i thought some parts of it could have been better. i didn't really like the scene where they're in the house looking for the glasses. it took too long and it kind of ruined the flow of the movie IMO. i also didnt like the comic elements ("the world wide web" and "ebay" and donuts (and some other jokes)). one or two funny things here or there would have been cool, but they tried it in too many places.

i didnt like the whole s7 thing. that whole thing was corny and dumb. this too was at too important a part of the movie to really get in to. pacing kinda got weird there.

i'm not too sure the whole blond chick analyst thing was interesting enough. they could have done more there, or taken a lot of it out.

instead i would have been interested to see more character development on the side of the decepticons. maybe some starscream scheme being built up or some strategy talk on their part. i know that megatron was frozen up until near the endish, but they could have worked something out so that we could understand more of how their clan works.

im not sure what to think of the whole run to the top of the building with the cube yet.

i wish they used more colors on the robots (as cool as they looked). at some points it was hard to tell who was who.

all that being said, i didn't hate the movie. the cg was great. a lot of the action stuff was awesome. acting was well done.

Fucking loved every second of that film. It was shit in so many ways, especially plot and script, but it was saved by the sheer awesomeness of the CG, the great sound design and the surprisingly good acting from Shia LeBeuf.

In fact, I can't remember when was the last time I was so entertained during a movie. I was laughing through the whole last half. Especially at the corny and stupid lines. "You're a soldier now!"

I kind of liked the comedic things too, like the Indian guy who redirects the soldier to the pentagon. It was funny in that stupid, Michael Bay-way.

Overall best actionfilm I have seen in a LONG time. 9/10
