Christ, are bikes just really effing expensive outside the states? I got my Trek about 3 years ago for around $480.
Alpha SL Alum frame, Judy TT suspension, Alivio/Deore compnents, Shimano M324 pedals and cleats, Bontrager ACX tires.
Now it seems to me that it really was a good price.

I got one of those bike bags... shoulderd ones that sit tight on the back... that will work, and to my suprise i still have a kewl helmet and some protections lying around on the attic from my dirt/bmx days.
I still have a ton of bike equipment too. Surprisingly it's mostly shit I've won or earned through sponsors. I never won any of those cool new helmets that they have now though that kinda look like motocross helmets.

Could be... Crescent is a swedish brand and they only make quality products(mediocre stuff for the REAL bikers/athletes)that will last ya 10 years.
And its the bike season now April/may and my EDGE is the 2005 and not a 2004 product.... so, i dont think they overcharged?

Now that I think about it, I got my bike in March/April, but it was the model from the year before, so that probably made a difference.

That look to much on me.... i never liked those because it looks like your a HARDCORE rider, im not.. sure i was ok on both flatland and dirt but i never bought the expensive stuff.
That helmet do look like one of those professional rider helmets... ima stick with the "im a sunday biker going down a 2 feet mountain" helmet.
LoL Well I still like to get the blood pumping and the bad part about racing bikes for 2 years is that those little hills that seemed so daunting once upon a time are really pretty routine for me now so I don't get that "thrill" you get from doing something difficult. So to do something difficult usualy means placing myself in situations where a full faced helmet rocks. Also, I have a bike helmet that looks like the one you posted except it comes down a bit further to cover your ears.
Body armour and a good helmet does wonders to boost your confidence though. The more confidence I have the better I ride so it's always been important for me to have very good equipment. It's like 50% skill 50% mental racing downhill. Cause you can be good but if you're not able to get past the fact you can be seriously injured going crazy speeds through crazy trails you'll lose to the crazy one that will.
Well im not scared, i just dont like getting hurt anymore... im past 30 damn it.
I´ve had my fair share... flatland is mean if you dont pull the tricks, i´ve hit the tarmac hard many times.
I havent had a bike for like three years now, and this is what my last one looked like in the end:
(It was stolen when I forgot to lock it at a bar, and a friend found it the next day lying somewhere on an industrial road, I still dont know if its been done by hand (or feet), or if someone had driven his car over it without noticing it was there, both seem equaly plausable)
and btw, the paint on it, was mine, although it used to look very colorful o_O
