I really have no idea. I'm not sure what I want to major in and that's going to be a huge factor for me. I'm deciding between Film Scoring and Performance. It depends on how much of a struggle I want. I can get an internship in Film Scoring through school but performance is in my hands.

I have plans to move back to Finland within a year and go to college there. I graduate HS later this month and will probably end up working for a year or so. I'm looking for careers involving computer technology but but keeping my eyes open for media/graphic design as well.

You can make the most detailed, well-thought-out plan in the universe and get smacked by a bus taking out the garbage.

Deal with each situation (and STD) that life throws at you as it comes. If you worry too much about what's gonna happen in five years you have too much time to think.
:olo:
come on now GonnaGetAids, you can be honest, I won't let the bad people make fun of you.

Seriously, I have to believe everyone's got a plan A, then a plan B. if you don't, you're very brave but foolish.

As for me, Plan A: fuck
Plan B: drink

I lose, you win
I lose, you win

But you're on my five-year plan
Your time will come
When you least expect it, expect it!
The five-year plan
You fucked me over
You did me wrong
You know why
I wrote this song
The five-year plan
Until the, I'll just pretend
That you are still my friend
But in the end, your time will come
When you least expect it, expect it!
The five-year plan
I don't forget so easily
No, I'm not so quick to forget
The five-year plan
I hold a grudge
I live for revenge
The five-year plan
I win, you lose
I win, you lose
I win!
A pretty young girl from the Oakland hills
Stole her dad's car and all her mom's pills
Got all fucked up and drove off a cliff
Ended up dead, dead in a ditch

Just like her mother always told her she'd end up
All fucked up, dead, dead in a ditch

Got all fucked up and drove off a cliff
Ended up dead, dead in a ditch

Just like her mother always told her she'd end up
All fucked up, dead, dead in a ditch
She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati
On a snow white Christmas Eve
Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy with the baby in the backseat
Fifty miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline
It'd been a long hard year
She had a lot on her mind and she didn't pay attention
she was going way too fast
Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn't even have time to cry
She was sooo scared
She threw her hands up in the air

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel

It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder
And the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock
And for the first time in a long time
She bowed her head to pray
She said I'm sorry for the way
I've been living my life
I know I've got to change
So from now on tonight

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on

Oh, Jesus take the wheel
Oh, I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
From this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel
Oh, take it, take it from me
Oh, why, oh

I'm currently dossing about York freelancing for props companies with my personal finances in a total mess and not really earning enough to survive properly, tho I am working for a company at the moment who are paying me a half decent hourly rate, but I'm only there for 5 weeks and then it's probably back to being raped for £6 an hour or unemployment.

In a few months I plan to move in with my girlfriend somewhere cheaper and spend a lot of my time in London working for film companies.

Right now I'm not where I want to be, I'm casting in GRP, painting and generally being a polyester resin monkey and I hate every minute of it. I want to be at least working with wood or metal. Fibreglassing is too much effort and too messy, it's also not really helping to realise my eventual goal of being an animatronics wiz. In 5 years I want to be making things like these:

or these:

Either that or I want to be making and selling my own moving art installations. I have a few projects which I need to finance and then tour round some galleries, it's just finding time and money to do them.

I just finished an 8 month stint at Splash Damage and so i'm currently looking for some more work. That's pretty much all that's going on in my life atm. Oh other than writing a few different game design documents.

I regret my decision to quit grad school every day.

Other than that, I'm pretty much locked into the simple little American suburban life with the house, the wife, the yard, etc...I really feel as some integral part of my existence is missing because I've never been used to what you might call long term stability.

Foo wrote:So how many people here have a game plan for their life goals? I just turned 24, and I'm only now starting to get set on an idea about what direction I want to take things in. So I'm curious as to whether I'm exceptionally late or if this is normal.

Since I'm already through education I feel a bit like I'm leaving it too late, as a number of important decisions have come and gone already. But then again, it's better to have a plan eventually than no plan at all, so it's still a relief to be getting away from the 'I have no fucking idea what I want to do with my life' feeling.

How about you? Set plan, no plan, making plans, haven't even considered it?
Continue working my new job. Move. Get a house.

Like tnf, I'm pretty much set in my little slot with the house, wife, yard etc. I do plan to continue moving upward in the company and do more traveling vacations. I'm pretty content where I'm at in life so far. I do need to put more effort into retirement plans however. I'm not really prepared for that yet.

I'm blowing in the wind like a leaf, and that's the way i like it, I would feel forced in any other situation.

I've been self employed for the past 3 years doing shit like web design, graphic design for logos etc. and I also do light construction/ renovation... It's all word of mouth, do good work and you'll never have to worry about self promotion, let your clients propagate in that way...my "plan" is to basically make a local name for myself in both fields, whichever blows up first that's the one I will concentrate on.

I know...it's nothing impressive but I like that way, I don't have any misconceptions of taking over the world or solving world hunger, I just want to be comfortable.

it's an amazing thing.
in my 5 years of schooling i've been working while taking a full class load. last term was my first without the handicap of a job and i got a 4.0
it's so much better when you have time to lean and experiment with the material, rather than just do what is absolutely neccessary to get by.
it's almost like fun. i highly recomend it. :icon14:
