I can't stand to play Les Pauls. They look great, but they're heavy and not balanced very well. They're really awkward to play sitting down, IMO.
Im with you on that..

Only exception is a friend had a "new wood" les paul. Oddly played ALOT better than some of the others ive dicked around on.
I can't stand lacquered necks. Yick.

OK, I've recieved and installed my tremol-no. Takes about an hour start to finish, hardest part is retuning the bloody thing constantly throughout the procedure, can scarcely feel the thing once it's in there. I'm not so sure about all their claims about increased sustain - seems slightly better but then again the S had pretty amazing sustain already - but the tone seems unchanged and the tremolo-fixing part works perfectly. Need to rout out the tremolo cover plate with a slot to allow me to turn it off/on as required and then we're done :-)

couldnt you have just blocked the trem soes it didnt float anymore?

or do you like to pull up on the bar?

Blocking up a trem is a hell of a lot more complicated than you might think - plus that's permanent, while with this thing in my guitar I can change from non-trem to dive-only to full floating in a few seconds.

ah

i'm dont really know much about locking systems as i've never had one.

i play plaine stats with non-locking bridge.

with this type, all thats needed is 5 springs in the trem cavity to hold it agiast the body.
then its effectivly blocked

sometimes the claw may have to be tightend tho
