the big 1 was like 9.0 ? causing this huge wave killing hundreds of millions..... and that thing hardly makes a dent ?

It depends on how the energy was released. IIRC, the one in Decemeber caused the seafloor to lurch quite a bit and quiet suddenly. This one lasted over two minutes and must not have caused the seafloor to move as much. They also think it released its energy in a different direction.

...sounds like no tidal wave has been found so there won't be any tsunamis this time...maybe next time...too bad.
